Members GreenDay=poop Posted January 10, 2006 Members Posted January 10, 2006 Does anyone know a good amp setting for metal and hard rock or just anything that sounds cool? I just got a new GK combo and am fooling around with it. Also I dont get what the contour nob does.
Members FreestyleIntruder Posted January 10, 2006 Members Posted January 10, 2006 with a GK for metal i'm guessing you should leave that {censored} set flat and just crank the drive control (or whatever it's called) as far to the right as it will go
Members i_wanna_les_paul Posted January 10, 2006 Members Posted January 10, 2006 The contour will boost lows and highs when turned to the right (clockwise) and boosts midrange when turned to the left (counterclockwise). Which GK do you have? I've come to the conclusion that there isn't a bad sound in my GK 400 head. Dustin

The more you turn it up, the more mids will be cut as highs and lows are slighlty boosted (IIRC it's something like -10dB for mids, +2 or +3 dB for the highs and lows - if you really want to know, GK's manual [available on their website] should have it). Flat is a good sound. Just about everything else is a good sound, too. Just fiddle with it while jamming.
