Members baracuda2004 Posted January 13, 2006 Members Posted January 13, 2006 Narrowed it down to WARWICK-just don't know which one. Corvette Standard The body of the Corvette Standard consists of two or three pieces of bubinga. With its shape, ergonomics and sound the Corvette Standard satisfies the aspirations of the most demanding of bass players. The switchable, active MEC 2-way electronics combine with the MEC pickup combination and three controls to provide flexible tone control, whether in the studio or on stage. The highly sensitive dynamic response of the Corvette Standard lets you articulate the most gentle of nuances or slap it for crisp, fat basslines. Additionally, a 4 string passive configuration is available with single coil J/J pickups. The Corvette '$$' (Double Buck) If the entire line of Warwick basses is like a family at a party, then the new Corvette $$ is the newest in-law who ate all the food, drank all the booze and is now in the coat closet with not one, but two of the wait staff! Even though it cosmetically resembles other Corvette models, the Double $$ gets its outrageous attitude and powerful identity from its unique pickup and electronics package. There are two passive MEC humbuckers nestled closely in the center of the body, completely covering the legendary sweet-spot that so many basses miss completely. But this bruiser has a sensitive side too, which can be accessed via the two mini 3-way switches that allow you to coil tap each humbucker in a variety if ways (hum canceling parallel/series, single coil). To give the Double $$ more flexibility, the passive pickups are matched to a MEC 2-band preamp, making this behemoth a true passive/active hybrid bass
Members bassesofalessergod Posted January 13, 2006 Members Posted January 13, 2006 i'd stick with the T-40 but If I had to choose I'd pick the double buck
Members willsellout Posted January 13, 2006 Members Posted January 13, 2006 I like the FNA Jazzman basses. They sound really nice. Second choice would be the DB Dan
Members tim_1002 Posted January 13, 2006 Members Posted January 13, 2006 $$. But i still prefer the streamer shape. The FNA jazzman would give you the best of both worlds.
Members bassplayer7770 Posted January 13, 2006 Members Posted January 13, 2006 Of those two, I'd likely go with the Double Buck, but I haven't tried either. I also haven't tried an FNA Jazzman. Of the Warwicks I've tried, the Corvette Proline was probably my favorite. However, I'd prefer a Music Man (especially with the new dual pickup models available).

I have an idea, why not get another T-40 except put some Hammon Darkstar pickups in it.
Members LO_RYDER Posted January 13, 2006 Members Posted January 13, 2006 I have the Thunb 5 with the 3 band warwick EQ Upgrade and I love it. I also like the Corvette, But I would probably Modify it to a 3 band EQ. The Jazzman was nice too but ..... I don't like the Double $$. So I would go with the Corvette over the Jazzman and the Double $$.
Members zenfascist Posted January 13, 2006 Members Posted January 13, 2006 $$. But then again I don't like Warwicks. But those things scream rawk.

Members Mofopotomus Posted January 13, 2006 Members Posted January 13, 2006 Yeah I dig the double buck but my one concern is it doesn't look like there's a lot of room for popping, but if you play with a pick that thing may just be one helluva monster.
Members Thumper Posted January 13, 2006 Members Posted January 13, 2006 Double Buck for my two cents worth. The only Warwick I've played was a Thumb bass. It sounded wonderful, but cost too much for my budget.
Members One Bad Monkey Posted January 13, 2006 Members Posted January 13, 2006 I've played many of the older styles (when I still lived within close proximity to Elderly Instruments) of Warwick. I play a Corvette Standard with Seymour-Duncan pups and absolutely love it. I definitely like the Streamer body style better in terms of comfort, but the Corvette ain't bad. The only thing I had to do was retrofit it with Schaller straplocks, because the original Duncans on the Corvette were at such an angle that they would be pulled out during playing, and you'd see this Warwick swing like a pendulum.
