I just played one unplugged in a local store here and it was just a sweet little piece of guitar. Only thing I didn't like about it was the anodized gold pickguard...just can't warm up to that.

But this thing was light weight, resonant, and a joy to play....

how are the pickups..? Any other comments from users...c-d

I have a Feista Red 50's P bass. I love it. The pickup is good. Sounds like some of the better P basses I have played. The anodized pick guard helps with noise. It is completely quite.

mine doesn't feel all that light. Comes in at 9 LBS. The reverse turners take a little getting used to.

Sounds damn good with flats.

They also had a fiesta red, a black, and a sunburst...really like the red, personally. But I picked up the red and the burst and played them and they were both decidedly heavier than the cream colored one.

I didn't realize they have reverse tuners...what the..? Guess that's how they did it back in the day...

Anyway...I'm definitely got some lustage going on here....

thinking about layaway....and he had it reduced to $550 with a gig bag...aarrrrrggghh

It's the Fender Fiesta Red, which isn't as deep as other Red type finishes. Personally, I think the Fiesta Red is very cool - especially with a tort pickguard

Here's an example of a '62 in Fiesta:

It certainly can look that way.

I traded away my Ken Smith Custom 5 a few years ago,,, and one of the things I got in trade was a MIJ '51 "P" Bass..... It's almost always the only bass I gig with these days,, but it's nothing like the one you all are talking about,, it's got that funnly little "tele" style single coil... but,,,, still plays and sounds good.. esp thru the Ampeg B15R.....

all I can say is,,, if it feels good,, sounds good,, then it must be yours !!! :D

I love Fiesta Red. Looks great whether it pinks up or goes "tomato soup".

The anodized pickguard doesn't really help with shielding.

Just going by what someone in here told me...

It is dead quiet though. My last P bass buzzed a little depending where I stood by the amp.
