Is the Mesa Bass 400 Significantly Inferior to the Mesa Bass 400+?

Seems like it would be more practical/inexpensive because of the fewer tubes (6 instead of 12). But would I run into significant volume or headroom issues?

Thanks,

Alex

"Inferior" is probabyl the wrong word to use. They will have less headroom than a "+" due to the 6L6s, but it may be enough for your purposes. If not, you can get 6550s put in there and get ~300W out of them like an SVT.

If you see a good deal on one, grab it. If you don't like it, turn it around on the 'Bay for a profit.

They are like twin brothers. Same, but slightly different. The 400+ is a little more hi-fi than the 400, the 400 is a little more ampeg-ish. I own both, and both kick ass. The 400 is slightly boomier than the 400+, which is deeper. Any Ampeg would be significantly boomier, especially if it were a Classic.
