'nother trussrod question

I bought a Yamaha BBN5 that is needing some work.

The truss rod won't turn even an eighth of a turn.

Is there some way to free it up?

Thanks for your help

Without having the bass in hand it's hard to offer advice.

If it were ME, I'd destring it and try to loosen the truss rod. Depending on what I can see, I mighr be tempted to apply a bit of penetrating oil.

I have taken the strings off to do some work on the fretboard.

Is the end opposite to the adjusting end buried under the fretboard?

What is it? A nut? Or some other threaded metal?

Thanks

Yes

Yes. It is an anchor to hold the rod from turning (may be a welded nut, a bit of threaded flat stock, some such) and distribute the load to both ends of the neck.

An example of a standard rod

Seriously, try pushing on the neck to free it... can work on guitar but might not on a 5 string bass.

When you say pushing on the neck - do you mean to push the curvature out of it or push on the rod?

Thanks
