Members Nazman06 Posted January 19, 2006 Members Posted January 19, 2006 Are flat wounds ok for metal and or hard rock?
Members sunburstbasser Posted January 19, 2006 Members Posted January 19, 2006 Steve Harris says they are.

Members Guidino Flats Posted January 19, 2006 Members Posted January 19, 2006 I love flatwounds ,they piss of my drummer.
Members SoundwaveLove Posted January 19, 2006 Members Posted January 19, 2006 why does drummer not like?

Members miles to go Posted January 19, 2006 Members Posted January 19, 2006 The strings on the bass are D'addarrio Chromes. It was my first try with Flats, so I don't know how they compare to others. They're very full sounding, but not a lot of brightness. I guess it really depends on the sound you're going for. Give 'em a whirl and see if you like them. They're fairly new and should have plenty of life left in them. Enjoy the bass!
Members Cortfan Posted January 19, 2006 Members Posted January 19, 2006 Once you get used to flats, I doubt you will go back to rounds.
Members Monkabutt Posted January 19, 2006 Members Posted January 19, 2006 Flats feel all smooth and slippery and stuff
Members Adrenochrome Posted January 19, 2006 Members Posted January 19, 2006 YES to all styles of music. Say goodbye to string noise and costly repeat purchasing of strings. AND you can turn your tone back up on your bass.
Members Nazman06 Posted January 19, 2006 Author Members Posted January 19, 2006 Well, the wife just got home with it..I ran through Wrath Child with the cd..and I kinda like the flat wounds..great bass Miles To Go!
Members Thumper Posted January 20, 2006 Members Posted January 20, 2006 Flats kill for hard rock and metal. Or blues, country reggae of anything else for that matter. They make a nice alternative to roundwounds, sound great and are easier on the frets and fingers.

Members fake-bass Posted January 20, 2006 Members Posted January 20, 2006 im gonna get some half rounds and some falt wounds..one for a fiver and one for a fendr Jazz well once i have cash for the strings!
Members rikshaw Posted January 20, 2006 Members Posted January 20, 2006 i think that they are great for rock. my drummer doesnt like my stainless flats on my p/j but everyone else does.

Cool. Glad you like it. I dig the flats, but didn't have a chance to use them much in a band setting.
Members Pindy Posted January 20, 2006 Members Posted January 20, 2006 I see the new Fender Pino Palladino bass comes with flats.
