WOT: How to get rid of a "shiner"?

So last night some jerkass in the club didn't quite know how to behave on the dancefloor and didn't understand that people go a little crazy to heavy music. Bottom line, he got really pissed at people slam dancing, and I got punched in the face, and now the part right underneath my right eye is incredibly purple and swollen.

How to get rid of facial bruises? People keep telling me that these things last like 2 weeks plus, changing colors and everything. Is there anyways to accelerate this process? I start my new job in 10 days, and I really don't want to look like I just got out of a fight. (This was a first for me, by the way. I'm really not a fighting kind of guy...)

P.S.: I know the obvious joke response to my thread title is to "drink the shiner", so let's just pretend that joke has already been made... ;)

Not really man. It's a bruise and bruises take time to heal. If I were you I would ice it right now, and then tomorrow apply heat to the area. It should limit swelling and then increase circulation, respectively. Also if you can, sleep with your head elevated. That should limit the pooling of fluid. It should take no more than a week to be healed if you follow this routine. I've had a few from when I kickboxed and this was how I handled mine. Good luck, sorry you got punched:D

Yeah it pretty much works on any bruising. It just limits swelling and then increases circulation so that any fluid build up gets moving again. Thats always what I do. Ice, elevate, and heat.

Dan

It was so worth the bruising, though. You should have seen this guy on the dancefloor. He was being such a JERK!

Willsellout has some good suggestions. Aside from those, do you have a GF? If so, borrow some makup. If not, raid your mom's makup cabinet.

I was at a concert a while back and watched the pit get "created", basically some doofus worked his way to front center and started slamming the hell out of everyone, apparently he and those who followed decided it was big enough when they got to me, I seemed to be in the first ring of people surrounding the pit. If he would have slammed me, I would have clocked him, I went to watch a show, not slam around in the pit. I don't know where the people he displaced went.

The only thing you can do, and it's not much, is keep your head elevated.

Wear your injury as a sign of pride. In the future you'll have the ammo to spin tall tales about the incident, and that will bring happiness.

Often times male bonding consists of comparing scars.

Either use one of those garden burger patties, or a slice of extra firm tofu.

Hey, that's cool if you came to watch the band; that's what most people come to shows for. But some people came to smash into one another. :)

Just understand that if it's heavy music then there's a good chance that there may be people bouncing around. If you see it start to "create" (and what you described is usually how it starts :D), then you need to watch yourself or keep your distance. I'm sure if he ran into you, it would've been an accident and you could have shoved him right back in and he probably would've been thinking "hey thanks". But NO punching, that's what an asshole would do, and you'd probably end up in a fight and everyone would hate you for fucking up the show. :D
