Members themeanreds Posted January 21, 2006 Members Posted January 21, 2006 Hi Y'all A little help, please: I just installed a Dimarzio Model P pickup in my backup bass (a weird SX; Jazz Bass body with P/J pickups). The bass was very quiet before, but now the Model P hums like crazy when I'm not touching the bridge, control plate, etc. Also, when both the P and J pickups are on full volume, the volume drops significantly and the sound becomes thin. Any thoughts as to what is going on? I followed the instructions, but there is no "troubleshooting" section, I'm afraid. Thanks!
Members tylytle Posted January 21, 2006 Members Posted January 21, 2006 Check your ground wire at the pot. Might be loose. Check the bridge ground wire. Check all connections again.
Members hammer744 Posted January 21, 2006 Members Posted January 21, 2006 If the sound is thin when both pickups are at full volume, it sounds like they may be wired incorrectly (not sure if out-of-phase is the right term here). Again, double check the wiring to make sure all the connections are solid and in the right configuration.
