Members Roswellian Posted January 23, 2006 Members Posted January 23, 2006 Hello All, My guitar player has been called out of town on business and we have to cancel our gig this Saturday Jan 28th. Usually I can find some one to fill-in or a band to cover for me but do to unfathomable coincidences I am coming up blank. Of the three bands I could call, one is booked at another place and of the other two, one played the same venue last week and the other is scheduled there next week.... sigh.... my 1st, 2nd and 3rd back-ups are all working that night and to make matters worse this is an agency gig with a signed (by me) contract. So,PM me if your rock band is available this Saturday 9 - 1 at Sheryl's Club 175 in Ackerville (20 miles north east of Milwaukee) the gig pays $450 with $50 going to the agent. Thanks,K.P.
Members bigby Posted January 23, 2006 Members Posted January 23, 2006 I would recommend contacting all music stores, subway shops, skateboard stores and dunkin donuts locations...you should be able to find a band somewhere in that mix! hehehe Good luck..go pack
Members Roswellian Posted January 23, 2006 Author Members Posted January 23, 2006 Sounds good! Sending my contact info in a PM please call me and we'll work this out. Thanks,K.P.
Members Roswellian Posted January 24, 2006 Author Members Posted January 24, 2006 no-logic's guitar player will be unavailable... anyone else? I need to cover this date. Thanks
Members mike fitzwell Posted January 24, 2006 Members Posted January 24, 2006 If I had a band I'd be there for ya Kev! Hopefully you can scrounge someone up before then, rather than make the fateful call to Mr. Agent. I can tell you from experience that's not a fun conversation to have with him. Good luck!
Members Roswellian Posted January 24, 2006 Author Members Posted January 24, 2006 Hi Mike, I called the agent yesterday evening and he told me to find a way to cover it... I'm scrambling but the fates seem against me... even Milwaukee rocks website is down so I can't use it to search for a band ANYONE????? K.P.
Members bnyswonger Posted January 24, 2006 Members Posted January 24, 2006 I just took a stab at it - 2 out 3 of Tickled Pink are free... We'd be kind of weak without drums, though...
Members mike fitzwell Posted January 24, 2006 Members Posted January 24, 2006 Ouch that's harsh! Yeah I really don't miss dealing with him all that much. Looks like milwaukeerocks.com is back up. Maybe post something over at wibands.com? I'll keep racking my brain too!
Members Roswellian Posted January 24, 2006 Author Members Posted January 24, 2006 yeah, Milwaukee rocks is back up and I have send e-mails to 11 bands.... hopefully, one of them will take the gig... I also called a buddy of mine who knows a guy who knows a guy etc. and we might throw a jam band together. thanks for the offer Bob, but that would be a heck of a drive to play at this club which is kind of a dive......LOL
Members Roswellian Posted January 26, 2006 Author Members Posted January 26, 2006 I found a band who agreed to do this gig. They are a 4 pieces boogie blues band instead of a 5 piece classic rock dance band so I'm gonna have to sweeten the pot for the venue. let me run this past you guys and see if this seems like a plan that satisfies everybody. The original booking was for $450.00 with $50.00 commission to the agent. I propose that the venue should pay the new Band $400.00 but I will personally cover $100.00. I will personally hand the hundred dollar bill to the club owner when I go talk to her about this today.I will bring promo for the new band that she can hang immediately. I will also pay the commission to the agent so he will be covered. The bottom line is the venue gets a band for $150.00 less than the contracted price. Hopefully this will prove that I will do whatever it takes to maintain my reputation as a musician the agent and the venue can count on.
Members mike fitzwell Posted January 26, 2006 Members Posted January 26, 2006 Wow Kev, that's going above and beyond! You should come out smelling like roses. Who's the band you found to play the gig?
Members Roswellian Posted January 26, 2006 Author Members Posted January 26, 2006 http://katzsass.com/ Jimmy James and the Katz Sass. Jimmy is a alumni of Roswell he played with me summer of '02. He is a good player but fancied himself as a headliner so he left to lead his own act.

Hopefully it all works out for you Kev. It's surely not a fun position to be in!
