Members willsellout Posted January 23, 2006 Members Posted January 23, 2006 So the Zon arrived today and to my horror, it is an absolute mess! The bass was described to me as having some minor cosmetic dings and a coupl finish checks. It has two cracks down the front of the body. one extends from the top of the body to the pickups and the other goes about half that distance. The electronics are dead sounding (checking the battery before making any final decision)The back of the body has numerous (see 2 dozen) finish cracks, the top horn strap is all screwed up, the neck is checking and flaking at the headstcock and the upper horn looks as though it was dragged about 50 feet in gravel. I am floored. I just email the person and am asking for a complete refund...I can't believe this happenned. Aren't musicians supposed to hook each other up? I couldn't get 500 bucks for this bass as it stands! Dan:mad:
Members beam Posted January 23, 2006 Members Posted January 23, 2006 Gagh..Well, hopefully the seller will be reasonable...though with the {censored} description he sold the bass with I wouldn't have my hopes too high. Was this over Ebay? Make sure you get them involved if he is even the slightest bit hesitant about a refund..
Members james on bass Posted January 23, 2006 Members Posted January 23, 2006 That really sucks! Keep us posted how everything turns out. You definitely need to go after that guy!
Members L-1329 Posted January 23, 2006 Members Posted January 23, 2006 Oh man that totally sucks! I hope you are able to get your money back without too much trouble. If not post his email address and we can all send some Lug mp3's his way...
Members fretless Posted January 23, 2006 Members Posted January 23, 2006 dons Ninja suit , sharpens killing stars , waits for phone call...
Members Peaveyherman Posted January 23, 2006 Members Posted January 23, 2006 Sorry to hear the bad news. Find this fellow and beat him until a minty Zon 5 suddenly appears in your hands.
Members zenfascist Posted January 23, 2006 Members Posted January 23, 2006 What a scumbucket. Kick his ass!! But didn't you post a picture on here? It looked teh sex to me....... maybe the picture was taken from a while back...?

It looked teh sex to me....... maybe the picture was taken from a while back...? you can't see the crack in the pic and the back shot was not much help either. It looks like it was shot with rock salt on the back. there are cracks in the finish everywhere and the paint on the neck is chipping off the ramp and headstock. I put a new batter in it and it sounded good, but I have a feeling that the electronics were messed with. I really hope he returns my money. The bass has no resale value right now with the way it looks. there is no serious damage..nothing that couldn't be fixed with a new paint job and possibly a new preamp...the bass isn't worth more than 700.00 and I paid 1200.00. This just goes to show you, trust your instincts. I was hesitant about buying it because he was willing to work the price so low. Seemed a bit too eager to get rid of it, and now I know why...we will see Dan
Members fretless Posted January 23, 2006 Members Posted January 23, 2006 what method of payment was used ?
Members Fran da Man Posted January 23, 2006 Members Posted January 23, 2006 1200... *Puts on steeltipped Cowboy boots* bends willsellout over and kicks him square in the asshole...pass that on to that guy when you catch him.
Members monark Posted January 23, 2006 Members Posted January 23, 2006 If it was bought through PayPal, get ahold of them. I've dealt with them a couple times. They will work with you to get you your money back.

Members SoundwaveLove Posted January 23, 2006 Members Posted January 23, 2006 Man we've all had bad e-bay expereinces. Hopefully you can get your money back and walk away a little wiser. (even if its not practical wisdom.)

He is a verified member with almost 100 transactions. I am going to wait to hear from him to see if he will just send my money back. IF he doesn't then I will call my credit card company and paypal and see what they can do. Hopefully he will do the right thing... Dan
Members Billy-B Posted January 23, 2006 Members Posted January 23, 2006 Dude, that is unbelievable! I would start laying the ground work immediately with paypal for a refund in case things go (even further) south with the idiot who sold this to you. That bass almost sounds like a piece of firewood with (poor) electronics attached... Billy-B

Members 82Daion Posted January 23, 2006 Members Posted January 23, 2006 That really sucks. Hope everything works out.
Members willsellout Posted January 23, 2006 Author Members Posted January 23, 2006 Yeah, I am going to get in touch with Paypal. There was a guy before me who paid 1500 for it and sent it back. Inside the case was his notes on what was wrong with the bass. He said he hoped that this person would see what was wrong and adjust the price. Obviously he didn't even look inside the case before he shipped it to me..Anyway, this guy told me that he got his money back from him, although he was offered a couple hundred back to keep the bass. Hopefully he will do the same for me (refund). The bass needs a new paintjob body and neck and it needs new electronics(although they work and sound decent the mid switch does nothing and the wiring is shoddy). We will see what he says.>Thanks for listening to my rant..I have to say that the bass, as poorly set up as it is, plays nice. Once could only imagine what a new one would feel like:cry: Dan
Members LO_RYDER Posted January 23, 2006 Members Posted January 23, 2006 That sucks big time! But did he state he would give a refund? or did his ad say "no refunds"? I wouldn't think he wants the bass back when it's in such crappy condition. I have been tempted to buy basses off of ebay (I have a high bid in right now) ...but after someone gets your money and you get {censored} you might be S.O.L I think I'm going to cancel my bid tonight! Good luck! P.S. How much $ did it cost you?
Members willsellout Posted January 23, 2006 Author Members Posted January 23, 2006 And let me clarify that this wasn't an ebay auction. I have had nothing but positive experiences with Ebay. This was basically an online ad. I will post his site if things go south, and make sure people know not to deal with him. But for now I will keep it a secret:p
Members Thumper Posted January 24, 2006 Members Posted January 24, 2006 Ouch! Hope it works out. I know you were jazzed for that bass...

Very comfortable to play and a nice fast neck. Probably one of the most well designed basses I have ever played. It's too bad....still haven't heard from him. Dan
Members J. Posted January 24, 2006 Members Posted January 24, 2006 I'm sorry to hear that man. Hopefully things work out. I've found that people will flat out lie about the condition of their instruments. I've bought things in "excellent" condition that were nothing better than "fair."
