Members bazzman Posted January 26, 2006 Members Posted January 26, 2006 Hello, Two days ago I bought a second hand Musicman Stingray5 . Today we had a rehearsel with the band and she plays super ! I never played a Musicman before, so my question is : Are there things I should know? Please post some experiences with this bass, so I can learn from other bassplayers. regards :thu: :thu:
Members Ted Striker Posted January 26, 2006 Members Posted January 26, 2006 You should know that was a batch of SR5 that were infected with Chlamydia. Be on the look out for thick yellow or clear discharge and pain or burning during urination. Good luck
Members Bud-Man Posted January 26, 2006 Members Posted January 26, 2006 Hey, Welcome to the Club! I love my SR5- I have played it so much and gotten so used to it, it is hard for me to switch basses. The string spacing is pretty close together on this bass, which I also have now gotten used to. At first, I had trouble with slapping on it because of the closer strings, but after a while it is no problem. It took some time slapping the E string with that B right below it. My former band mate, close friend, and now studio owner/engineer in Cincinnati loves how this bass sounds in the mix. The B is pretty good on this bass, I think. There are a lot of cool basses out there, this being one of them.

Members niomosy Posted January 27, 2006 Members Posted January 27, 2006 Yes, there's one important thing. Play the hell out of that biatch! It's a great bass for the price
Members venturawest Posted January 27, 2006 Members Posted January 27, 2006 you will pry my SR 5 out of my cold, dead, stiff fingers one day. enjoy it!
Members __tony__renaud Posted January 27, 2006 Members Posted January 27, 2006 In my experience, there's no other bass at any price that sits as well in a mix as a SR5. I don't play mine all the time, but I still find it to be a necessary part of my bass collection. This model has been out for around two decades, and the mob has spoken : it's a great bass.
Members timmerz Posted January 27, 2006 Members Posted January 27, 2006 I'm still wringing new and different tones out of mine every time I play it, and I've been playing it a lot for over 4 months now...I'm enjoying it more than any other bass I've owned so far....
