Members ballison Posted January 28, 2006 Members Posted January 28, 2006 after tonights gig I have decided that I really need to cut down on the weight...I own a fender 4x10 that weighs around 80 pounds and a qsc 1450 which weighs 40 pounds (ick) so I was thinking about getting a stewart world 600, which only weighs 10 pounds! and have it bridged into an 8 ohm cab which would give me 400 watts rms... as far as a cab goes, I was thinking of getting an Epifani UL-210 which weighs only 38 pounds and handles 500w. Im just wondering if you guys have had any experience with these guys? or anything else within this weight range, thanks!
Members MacGarnicle Posted January 28, 2006 Members Posted January 28, 2006 Check out Genz Benz neo cabs http://www.genzbenz.com/?fa=category&cid=96 2x10 - 50 pounds 1x12 - 37 pounds 2x12 - 62 pounds I have two of the 2x12s and they are a joy to move around compared to my old GK 4x10.
Members Darkstorm Posted January 28, 2006 Members Posted January 28, 2006 Eden Nemesis 1x15 is very nice cab and just weighs like 32 pounds or about that. The 2x10 would be another great pick but weighs about 6 pounds more & emphsizes low end a tad more.
Members rovito Posted January 28, 2006 Members Posted January 28, 2006 I used to own that amp and found it a little under powerd for what its rated.
Members BigPigPeaches Posted January 28, 2006 Members Posted January 28, 2006 You might also consider a Soundtech PS802, 800W bridged at 8ohms, 15.8 lbs, single rack space. There's usually one on the bay, expect $350-$400.
Members BigPigPeaches Posted January 28, 2006 Members Posted January 28, 2006 Also the Soundtech PL802, same specs but 2 rack spaces and 19#.
Members 4string Posted January 28, 2006 Members Posted January 28, 2006 Ampeg, they have some great sounding light rigs

Members Zamfir Posted January 28, 2006 Members Posted January 28, 2006 Last I heard, J the D held the "One Hand Free For Beer On The Way Out The Door" title, so check with him.

Members JeffBass Posted January 29, 2006 Members Posted January 29, 2006 Epifani's 3x10 is a great cab and it's light. It's full enough and loud without distorting, but it requires plenty of power. GK's new NEO cabs were reviewed in last months BP magazine and they liked'em alot. If you power with a GK head, get the GK NEO cabs so you can make use of the bi-amp function (which is a great feature).
Members NineMinuteNap Posted January 29, 2006 Members Posted January 29, 2006 I had a Flite cabinet for a while that was crazy light. You could probably juggle 3 of them if your arms were long enough.

I play my fender Jazz through my 17 lb GK head into my 39 lb Eden cabinet. I can get everything in one trip if I use a gig bag over the shoulder instead of the hard case. My normal setup is to mount the cabinet on a luggage rack and the head on top of it using bungy cords which does allow one hand free for beer if I use the gig bag over the shoulder.
Members Gaui Posted January 29, 2006 Members Posted January 29, 2006 Check out Mark Bass, really light, and quite loud.
Members BlackBelt Posted January 30, 2006 Members Posted January 30, 2006 GK heads= really light for the power that you get.Cabs-my personal feeling is to put them on GOOD casters, and the weight becomes much less of an issue. The problem with lightweight cabs is that they usually compromise something (tone or cab quality) in order to achieve the weight savings.I don't feel like hefting things up and down much, and we play a LOT. So I use a 2x15 cab that's 4 feet tall, and I can just tip it over and scoot it into the bed of my pickup, or do the same thing with it to get it on the band truck. It has really good casters on the bottom, and caster jacks on the side of it, so that I can just roll it on the side if I need to by inserting the casters.I've always thought that heavy cabinets were part of playing bass. But then I look over at the drummer and all his crap, and I'm glad I'm not him!!!
