Members Perfessor Posted January 29, 2006 Members Posted January 29, 2006 I'd really like to get a jazz thing going but with afternoon shift it's tough to form a band due to schedule problems. That said the best I've able to do is jam on blues night.
Members der oxenrig Posted January 29, 2006 Members Posted January 29, 2006 We're into bluesy classic rock played painfully loud. Check us out, either here or here.

That said the best I've able to do is jam on blues night. I have two bands I play with; one is a standard rock cover band and the other is an origonal jam band. In the jam band we do rock/funk/jazz type stuff, whatever the feel calls for. I have a blast with that group... two percussionist, drummer, two guitars, mandolin/steel guitar player, keys and myself.
Members bassplayer7770 Posted January 29, 2006 Members Posted January 29, 2006 My band current covers mostly rock from the 80s through today. We also do some R&B like Aretha's "Respect". I don't mind so much what we play. Sometimes I wish the band was tighter, etc. Playing some good originals along with the covers would be cool too.
Members lingua latina Posted January 29, 2006 Members Posted January 29, 2006 Hungarian traditional/folk/jazz with a punk/metal flavor as played by Kolinda. Interested in, unfortunately at the moment:cry: If I was in a band I'd kill to play this {censored}. Like nothing I've ever heard...
Members Zeromus-X Posted January 29, 2006 Members Posted January 29, 2006 I'm playing country/classic rock covers in one band, and Ramones-style stuff in the other. Don't listen to either though. I listen to stuff like Fear Factory, In Flames, etc.
Members tim_1002 Posted January 29, 2006 Members Posted January 29, 2006 i'm currently in 2 bands. one is kinda like a modern blues rock sort of band and the other is well... a pop band which i HATE! we play jewel covers and i just feel like banging my head against something hard when i play. just not my genre.
Members embellisher Posted January 29, 2006 Members Posted January 29, 2006 I play with two bands. The first is Lucid Dreamer, www.luciddreamer.net We do 70's influenced hard rock, with Christian lyrics. Check out some of our mp3s. I also play with Vinny and the Jets. We play 50's, 60's and 70's rock. And I play praise & worship at church.
Members Oddsock Posted January 29, 2006 Members Posted January 29, 2006 we play all originals, no vocals anymore though . I guess we are post rock, as vague as that is.
Members SpaceGhost Posted January 29, 2006 Members Posted January 29, 2006 I play in a bass, drum, and cello trio heavily influenced by The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Jonas Hellborg, Billy Cobham, 70s King Crimson, and Return to Forever. We're more Progressive Rock then Fusion and have quite a bit of improv.
Members 82Daion Posted January 29, 2006 Members Posted January 29, 2006 If we get somethng together, it'll probably be funk-rock-jazz with a slight touch of shred.
Members el_duderino676 Posted January 29, 2006 Members Posted January 29, 2006 In my main project, our stuff is somewhat of a mix between Dave Matthews, bluegrass, and folk rock. I really enjoy playing in this project and I could see myself playing in it for a long time. The other project that I want to weasle my way out of plays a classic rocky texas bluesy style of stuff, which is ok, but I can't stand the way that one of the guitarists or the drummer plays, which are the main two members. Hopefully when the other project gets a drummer set in place and we can get some gigs, I can just tell them to go take a long walk off of a short pier and be done with it. When I'm at home, I enjoy almost any music, except rap, "cuntry," or death metal, though I do like some metal (thanks to Haico)
Members dabbadon8 Posted January 29, 2006 Members Posted January 29, 2006 My band plays what we hope is commercial enough to earn us a a contract with a record label. www.myspace.com/TempestRocks
Members BEAD Posted January 29, 2006 Members Posted January 29, 2006 My band does a shoegazy thing sort of like hum, but with a bit more variety. as far as music I'd like to make... I'd like to do something totally alienating for the audience, and irritating for the performers.
Members megadan Posted January 29, 2006 Members Posted January 29, 2006 One of my bands is 60's punk type stuff, Stooges, VU, buzzcocks. The other is post-rock/math-rock/indie stuff... Both of them have myspace things, so investigate!: www.myspace.com/thebadmotels www.myspace.com/tomcatcombat
Members Droplaw621 Posted January 29, 2006 Members Posted January 29, 2006 Hardcore, or metalcore, I hate both those names, we just play brutal really moshy heavy songs that make the crowd flip out.
Members Trento54 Posted January 29, 2006 Members Posted January 29, 2006 my band plays old 70s rock like stuffi want to play reggea/ska and punk
Members Crescent Seven Posted January 29, 2006 Members Posted January 29, 2006 Crescent Seven plays stuff along the lines of A Perfect Circle, recent Incubus, and RATM, without the rap/rock feel. It's the stuff I want to play, because my drummer actually likes the prog-style grooves I play. We just have to find a singer and now a guitar player and we'll be set. I tried a funk project, but it wasn't fulfilling for me, same thing with the grunge project I was with for a while. Too straight-forward. C7
Members b-lance Posted January 30, 2006 Members Posted January 30, 2006 i suppose my band does a mixture of Mogwai/explosions in the sky/kid a- era radiohead we have a short video clip Love In Binary i'm playing the high pitched guitar part right then
Members kcrichard Posted January 30, 2006 Members Posted January 30, 2006 I play in a church band, see www.meaningfulchurch.com. We've been doing a lot of Switchfoot, today we covered Ginny Owens. The instrumental intro was a cover of Dave Edmunds (the) Stumble. Fun, but I sucked on the guitar lead.
Members TrayneInvayne Posted January 30, 2006 Members Posted January 30, 2006 the stuff that i am interested in is more of the old school (80's -early 90's) punk rock, early emo (fugazi, rites of the spring, jawbreaker) and old heavy metal (sabbath, zepplin, alice cooper) working on writing most of the guitar and bass lines myself right now... just need to invest in a 8 track to get everything down
Members bnyswonger Posted January 30, 2006 Members Posted January 30, 2006 My thing is songwriting...I like a lot of different styles but tend to constantly be trying to write great rock/ pop tunes that work on different levels...and have something for people that don't take music that seriously as well as those who do. Beatles, Kinks, XTC, Elvis Costello - I wanna be at that level. So what's wrong with being ambitious?
Members Guidino Flats Posted January 30, 2006 Members Posted January 30, 2006 Any songs other then the ones I suggest doing. They even listen to the drummer"s.
