Members s4001 Posted February 2, 2006 Members Posted February 2, 2006 That's what these guys have been doing for almost 15 years.
Members Banta Posted February 2, 2006 Members Posted February 2, 2006 More like 23+ years. They were together long before they named the band King's X.
Members Ender_rpm Posted February 2, 2006 Members Posted February 2, 2006 Love me some Kings X. The double live disc is AMAZING!!! But Lost in Germany is still may fav.
Members bigby Posted February 2, 2006 Members Posted February 2, 2006 +1 for our local Texas boys...heheheh
Members bassplayer7770 Posted February 2, 2006 Members Posted February 2, 2006 Yep. King's X is great. Which of the new albums do King's X fans recommend most? The last album I have is "...Mr. Bulbous".
Members someotherguy Posted February 2, 2006 Members Posted February 2, 2006 Complain, so much easier... Great song. Fade to flashback... I remember taking that song & Dogman to my teacher to get tabbed my first year playing. Musta been 1995. He was impressed & the drummer manning the shop popped his head in to give a . I think a skinny high schooler stepped up in status there that day. ...Back in 2006 Kings X is one band that I keep listening to no matter how my tastes change. Ear Candy is my favorite album. Great melodies.

IMO their best work was their early stuff. Gretchen Goes to Nebraska, Out of the Silent Planet and Faith Hope Love are my three favorites, followed by King's X and Dogman. Of all of their more recent albums, I like Tape Head and Bulbous the most. (BTW, they used to be called Sneak Preview back in the early '80s.)

Okay, I should mention that I already have everything up through "...Mr Bulbous", but I still need to get a couple of them on CD (instead of cassette). I also saw them play with Galactic Cowboys in support of "Tape Head". It looks like I'll just stick with the albums I already own...
Members pbass_groovin Posted February 2, 2006 Members Posted February 2, 2006 anybody see their live show?
Members 72Rick Posted February 2, 2006 Members Posted February 2, 2006 The Fuzzy Smudges are the Autographs of all three members of Kings-X.The guy who sold it to me took this pic in his backyard in Texas. I had to adjust the brightness to look like a Texas sunset to try to bring out the autographs more. It's all just fun story stuff. When I was selling it, to finance my Alembic Persuader, Beaver Felton from Bass Central in Florida called me. First he quized me on the signatures. The original owners story was too complete to debunk. Then he asks if I'll take less that my $1200.00 price. I politely told him the lowest price I'd seen before this one being sold to me for $1200.00 was $1800.00 and that the Short-Scales were usually in this range. And furthermore I needed the full $1200.00 to buy my Persuader. This actually made him perk up for a second, when I told him that I really wanted a Spoiler but was ok with the P/J Activators cuz it was still a gorgeous Bass. He says, well we've got Spoilers! And I'm thinking hell ya I'll take that! But then he had to go and wake up, to the fact that we're no longer talking about a $1200.00 used Alembic, were talking about a brand new $2600.00 (lowest cash price anywhere) Alembic! It was fun for a second, and really cool talking to him anyway! So he said he'd take it for $1200.00! I shipped it COD. All was cool. I checked the website a week or so later and there it was. Custom Alpine White finish Hamer Chapparral Long-Scale 12-String Bass "Autographed by Kings-X" $2400.00 Just like you'd expect right! It had to have been there a good year or more before someone baught it. I wonder how much they paid? Could be one of us forum folk?

I thought GC broke up before then, but not sure about that. I've seen them on every tour since "King's X", and they consistently kick ass. Also the nicest guys you could ever meet, they stay after every show to meet/greet and sign autographs. My Dean Rhapsody 12 is autographed by them. As for the most recent albums, I would recommend the latest, "Ogre Tones". A few misses but some of their strongest stuff in a long time, especially "Fly" and "Stay". But for sheer killer riffs, the album "Dogman" is my favorite. TJF, if you liked "Complain", check out "Human Behavior" and "Pillow" from that album. Huge and heavy.
Members flatcat Posted February 2, 2006 Members Posted February 2, 2006 I saw them first on Faith Hope Love - I had something else to do when they were in New England during the Gretchen tour. I saw FHL, King's X, Dogman, Tape Head....I think that's it, maybe one other. If you like King's X, you really should check out Galactic Cowboys. I thought they were unbelievable when I saw them open for KX. I'd heard their stuff before I saw them live, but live...holy cow. They did "About Mrs Leslie" and....just....wow. My favorite KX records in order: DogmanGretchen Goes to Nebraska (though I wish they'd remix it)Faith Hope Love (I wish they're remix it)Out of the Silent Planet (see above)Ear CandyKing's X (the one with Black Flag)Manic Moonlight....Bulbous I don't have the new one. King's X is one of two artists all of whose records I own. The other is Stephen Stills. I don't even own all the Beatles records.
