Members KeroseneTrewthe Posted February 7, 2006 Members Posted February 7, 2006 A bit of background. I hate my job. I literally do about 10 minutes of work a day....maybe. Not because I dont want to but the nature of it is that sometimes there is just nothing to do. Ever see Office Space? Yup, Im Peter. Anyway to combat the boredom I rigged my boss' computer. He is a Lumberg clone..I swear he is! So he uses all the regular Windows defaults for his computer. So I took the Tada.wav sound file that the computer uses at shutdown and added 5 minutes of no sound at the end. So last night he comes to me cause Im also the office "computer guy" and asks if something is wrong since it seems locked up. So I "check it out" and find nothing out of the ordinary....and never will. Ugh...I have to get out of this place before I get myself fired or simply quit. If it wasnt for my family at home...

Members gretschzildjian Posted February 7, 2006 Members Posted February 7, 2006 Man, I know exactly what you mean. Also got ten minutes of work a day and spend the rest fighting off the boredom. My boss is too cool a person to bug though; besides that her office is far away from mine No, I spend my time with this, this and scanning stuff like this:
Members KeroseneTrewthe Posted February 7, 2006 Author Members Posted February 7, 2006 Its bad. For about 3 years now its all about "looking busy". I swear its harder to look busy all day than it is to real honest work. Im starting to lose it.
Members james on bass Posted February 7, 2006 Members Posted February 7, 2006 +1. I just hope they don't check my computer usage.
Members KeroseneTrewthe Posted February 7, 2006 Author Members Posted February 7, 2006 Im to the point where I dont care. A suspension would be great right about now...

Members s4001 Posted February 7, 2006 Members Posted February 7, 2006 One of my guys took a week off. While he was gone I took a screenshot of his desktop and made it his desktop. I took all of his folders and put them in a folder with an Icon the same color as the desktop. I then ran his monitor cable to another Mac and made that desktop the screenshot. Kept him busy for three hours when he got back.
Members L-1329 Posted February 7, 2006 Members Posted February 7, 2006 That all sounds like it would drive me nuts too! My job is really hours of boredom, interspersed with a few hours of intense activity. The extreme's really wear you out after a 14 hour day.
Members burdizzos Posted February 7, 2006 Members Posted February 7, 2006 I just put pictures of myself on people's desktops when they leave their puters unlocked. Most folks around here are too dumb to know how to change that. Even those who do know how change it through the background setting so I still show up pevery time they shutdown their computers.
