Members D Posted February 13, 2006 Members Posted February 13, 2006 I play a stereo set up with a guitar and bass amp together. My bass speaker is currently a 1x15 with a horn but I'm having issues with the bass sound getting squashed by the guitar amp.I channel looped rhythms through the bass amp on occasion and they become lost when I play a heavily distorted guitar sound over it. Would a 2x10 or a 4x10 bass cabinet better balance with the guitar amp perhaps? Are the smaller speakers known to be punchier in your opinion?
Members Rhythmalism Posted February 13, 2006 Members Posted February 13, 2006 Bass amp not keeping up? Sounds like 4x10 time.
Members BEAD Posted February 13, 2006 Members Posted February 13, 2006 Dial some of the bass out of your heavily distorted guitar, and bump the mids on your bass amp.Maybe turn your guitar amp down a little too...That should do the trick.
Members HumptyThumpty Posted February 13, 2006 Members Posted February 13, 2006 To me there is nothing like a 4x10. I get all the bottom I want and all the definition I need.
Members januaryscar Posted February 13, 2006 Members Posted February 13, 2006 4 x 10 = tight and focused.1 x 15 = boomy and loose. 4 x 10 all the way.

Members bottomfeeder Posted February 13, 2006 Members Posted February 13, 2006 I have an Ashdown EB combo with a 15inch speaker. I don't feel it lacks focus or tightness. But I havent had a lot of time to play at higher volumes with guitar and drums. Next Monday should be the test! a Band baby yeah!
