Members 82Daion Posted January 31, 2007 Members Posted January 31, 2007 Just cut a deal with a guy on TalkBass for this Japanese beauty: It's an 80's-era Yamaha BB3000s-not exactly what I was originally considering, but I've always wanted one, and it's a lot closer to the Daion, which I like. We'll see how things work-I'm probably going to replace the stock bridge with a Gotoh 201, but the rest of it should be fine. Can't wait.... :D
Members JanVanHove Posted January 31, 2007 Members Posted January 31, 2007 looking good! Congratulations on the purchase! And the fact that you've been waiting for one for years will make this a much better bass in your hands than those ric, t-birds and other gibson recording basses you were looking at! Since those are not your pictures, this bass of course does not exist and we will need further proof once you get your paws on it...
Members HackedByChinese! Posted January 31, 2007 Members Posted January 31, 2007 O RLY? I can't wait, either...

Members HackedByChinese! Posted January 31, 2007 Members Posted January 31, 2007 Ya RLY. I still think it's ugly. We'll see...
Members 82Daion Posted January 31, 2007 Author Members Posted January 31, 2007 Should be here on Friday.
Members baracuda2004 Posted January 31, 2007 Members Posted January 31, 2007 NICE find:thu: I saw a Yamaha with the same type of bridge pickup but I think it was a different model. Didn't get to play it though.
Members mike fitzwell Posted January 31, 2007 Members Posted January 31, 2007 Did you unload the Bongo?
Members bassplayer7770 Posted January 31, 2007 Members Posted January 31, 2007 Cool! I'll look forward to a review! Yamaha makes some nice basses. I'm seriously considering a new TRB1005...
Members 82Daion Posted January 31, 2007 Author Members Posted January 31, 2007 Did you unload the Bongo? Yep. It's on its way to Culver City, CA as we speak.
Members mike fitzwell Posted January 31, 2007 Members Posted January 31, 2007 Yep. It's on its way to Culver City, CA as we speak. Did you get what you were asking for? I saw your ad on TB and had to hold myself back. Goddamn I want one of those bastards!

Goddamn I want one of those bastards! Yes, I did. I don't blame you-I was pleased with mine, but the neck was screwing with my wrist and the string tension was too loose for my tastes. Great electronics package, though-if they offered it in a mahogany body, I'd be all over it.
Members 82Daion Posted February 1, 2007 Author Members Posted February 1, 2007 It's nearby-Columbus, OH to be exact. Hopefully I'll be here tomorrow when it arrives.
Members Gaui Posted February 1, 2007 Members Posted February 1, 2007 Nice bass, I almost bought a fretless version last year, 1986 model I think. But I didnt have enough money at the time so I missed it
Members 82Daion Posted February 1, 2007 Author Members Posted February 1, 2007 Cool. MP3's are expected. OK. I have access to a decent Pro Tools setup, so it shouldn't be difficult.
Members pbass_groovin Posted February 1, 2007 Members Posted February 1, 2007 nice score. those yammys belong in the same category as the T40 & ATK
Members Thumper Posted February 1, 2007 Members Posted February 1, 2007 Turning Japanese again, are you? You already know about '80s Yammies, Daions, Ibanez Musicians etc. Pbass_groovin has a point about ATKs and T40s. They're finally getting the credit they deserve. 'Course, now the prices will go up.

Yep. I probably paid a little over market for this one, but they don't often come up in this shape or finish. I've got a gig on Friday night, but I'm not sure I want to put something so unfamiliar through its paces so soon-we'll see.
Members s4001 Posted February 1, 2007 Members Posted February 1, 2007 Someday I really want a nice Aria ProII.
Members 82Daion Posted February 3, 2007 Author Members Posted February 3, 2007 Well, it's here, and it's quite nice-just going to take some getting used to, since the neck is actually a Jazz width, and the overall tone of the bass is somewhat different than the Daion, which is to be expected. Still, it's a very high-quality bass, and I can't wait to get out and gig with it.
Members PrestiaRules Posted February 3, 2007 Members Posted February 3, 2007 mmm that is nice congrats!
Members bassplayer7770 Posted February 3, 2007 Members Posted February 3, 2007 Bass: Yamaha BB3000MA in Green Satin ETA: Feb. 6th
