Members Thumper Posted February 16, 2007 Members Posted February 16, 2007 .045 to .105 ought to work.
Members mrcrow Posted February 16, 2007 Members Posted February 16, 2007 .045 to .105 ought to work. and if not...50-110... the thing is to make sure you get hex core which are pretty stiff... hmm..must get some hex core for my old man..
Members bassplayer7770 Posted February 16, 2007 Members Posted February 16, 2007 What Thumper and mrcrow said. Large gauge hex core strings ought to work.
Members mrmatt64 Posted February 16, 2007 Members Posted February 16, 2007 What kind of bass you have? You may want to get it set up by a gtr. tech if you haven't already....... Mr. Matt

If you pay somebody to do it, be sure to tell them what tuning you're using.
Members JiroJan Posted February 16, 2007 Author Members Posted February 16, 2007 i have a schecter stilleto custom 4 will the nut need to be cut?
Members slapthefunkyfour Posted February 16, 2007 Members Posted February 16, 2007 If you go with a larger guage, the nut might need to get cut. If you take it to a tech, he'll be able to tell if the nut needs cutting.
Members blueyedmule Posted February 16, 2007 Members Posted February 16, 2007 No reason a .105 E string shouldn't work just fine as low as D. Huh. I use Rotosounds usually, nickels. Never had a problem with them in a drop-D. Rotosound also has a Billy Sheehan set, .110-.043. G is a little lighter for bending nicely, slightly fatter E for drop-D.
Members hasbeen Posted February 17, 2007 Members Posted February 17, 2007 and if not...50-110... the thing is to make sure you get hex core which are pretty stiff... hmm..must get some hex core for my old man.. agreed. I think the stiffness offered by hex core is more important then the guage.
