Non-Typical Instruments That Work in Rock Bands

First time I heard bagpipes in a rock band I got chills, it was a huge suprise to me and it just really worked. Another suprise was a digeridoo that sneaked its way into a song. I thought that was pretty cool, and also I was just a little proud that I actually knew what that freaky noise was, bein' a Yank n' all. Another favorite is when you can sneak in a cello on some sort of rock tune. Always like that! Bonus points if it's not a "power ballad". :D

Ok, what have you heard that's outside-the-box, or was at that time, that just worked?
