P-Bass neck on J-Bass body

Being real lazy but has anyone tried putting a P neck on a J body?

I'm worried about weight distribution and losing the J bass feel. I imagine that the tone could be fatter with the chunkier neck of a P?

I'm thinking of a fretless mighty mite but they don't do a J Bass fretless. Why is this? I love P basses but Id much prefer a fretless neck to be slim and playable like a jazz. The neck on it allready is very battered but i wouldn't fancy de-fretting it. plus ive been quoted more for a de-fret than the actual price of a mighty mite neck.

Why do they only make P Bass fretless necks?!!

I don't think you're going to hear as much tonal difference as you think - IMO, the only reason to make such a change is for fit of hand... I installed a Jazz neck on a P body, and it really didn't change the tone much, if at all - it still sounds like a P, but Jazz necks fit my hands so much better...

Besides the width, what is the difference?

I play a P-bass with a jazz/Precision active pickup combo someone prior to me installed.

Haven't played many jazz basses, but aren't the main differences the j-pickups and neck width?
