Members Jim-Bass Posted March 21, 2007 Members Posted March 21, 2007 one of the reasons I chose a white Jazz bass was that it's a neutral and will go with anything - I also thought if I wanted a bit of colour, all I need do is put a coloured scratchplate on (existing one is white too) or change the colour of this one. I could take it off and just spray it some funky colour....anyone done this, if so what did you use
Members justinbass Posted March 21, 2007 Members Posted March 21, 2007 Spraypaints work kinda good. It helps to sand the pickguard down to give the paint something to grip to. It'll look painted up close, but perfectly fine from the crowd.
Members Zeromus-X Posted March 22, 2007 Members Posted March 22, 2007 I used chalkboard paint on my drums. A pickguard done with it would be awesome and you could write all over it. Added bonus is that it's a flat black, so it won't be reflecting stage lights like a bad spraypaint job.

Members james on bass Posted March 22, 2007 Members Posted March 22, 2007 How hard is it to paint on tortoise shell?
Members Jim-Bass Posted March 22, 2007 Author Members Posted March 22, 2007 How hard is it to paint on tortoise shell? probably easier than you'd think ....paint it medium brown , then dark brown, sand off some of the top layer exposing the lighter colour and then dip a Q-tip in black and swirl it around and then throw it all out and buy a tortoise shell scratchplate...
