Members Pickdust Posted March 26, 2007 Members Posted March 26, 2007 No food before a gig but several brews and a pizza after usually put me right for a couple hours of sleep before sunrise. Vampire diet! PD
Members Grumpy_Polecat Posted March 26, 2007 Members Posted March 26, 2007 Rule #1: If you must eat before a gig, don't go to the 'all-you-can-eat' Hindu Buffet.
Members SA Rios Posted March 26, 2007 Members Posted March 26, 2007 We usually set up early and go out to eat. If the venue has good food we'll eat there or we'll just go to a nearby restaurant.
Members TN.Frank Posted March 26, 2007 Members Posted March 26, 2007 A few beers and some Taco Bell sound good to me but for god sake, don't drink Milwaukee's Best Light, at least drink Busch or Bud or something decent.
Members Crescent Seven Posted March 26, 2007 Members Posted March 26, 2007 Explosive! I {censored} my pants on stage, it's part of the show. So MBL and Taco Bell are essential to the successful execution of our set. C7
Members JacieFB Posted March 26, 2007 Members Posted March 26, 2007 I keep it simple and cheap. 2 Peanut butter sandwiches on wheat bread and an apple does me right. The all-ages venues and being on the wagon for Lent has done away with the drink at or after the show.
Members bnyswonger Posted March 26, 2007 Members Posted March 26, 2007 Steak pie I was going say hair pie...or tuna taco, fur burger. etc
Members superiorparts Posted March 26, 2007 Members Posted March 26, 2007 dont eat before a show. but on sunday afternoons after a weekend of gigging, i always cook chicken on the grill. usually wings or quarters. there are a lot of good notes in chicken!
Members picker13 Posted March 26, 2007 Members Posted March 26, 2007 i dont like to eat before a gig. drinking is another story. +1
Members sultan417 Posted March 26, 2007 Members Posted March 26, 2007 A Heineken and a 6' Subway. Something light though like a turkey on wheat with honey mustard so's you don't get all weighed down.
Members Thumper Posted March 26, 2007 Members Posted March 26, 2007 Taco Bell and Milwaukee's Best Light. C7 Last time I checked that swill isn't made anywhere near Milwaukee...
Members Smokinfiddler Posted March 26, 2007 Members Posted March 26, 2007 Last time I checked that swill isn't made anywhere near Milwaukee... LMAO:D Cartersville GA:o
Members catphish Posted March 27, 2007 Members Posted March 27, 2007 A Heineken and a 6' Subway. yeah, I always go for the 6 footer when i want something light.
Members someotherguy Posted March 27, 2007 Members Posted March 27, 2007 Do any of you that sing avoid certain foods before a gig? Dairy, etc.
Members catphish Posted March 27, 2007 Members Posted March 27, 2007 Do any of you that sing avoid certain foods before a gig? Dairy, etc. this is one of the reasons I don't like to eat before shows. Being full messes with my singing (throat and breathing)
Members Banta Posted March 27, 2007 Members Posted March 27, 2007 I never have been able to eat much before a gig. But afterwards, well... that's a different story!
Members catphish Posted March 27, 2007 Members Posted March 27, 2007 But afterwards, well... that's a different story! yumm...the one bar we play "Cab's Bistro" brings us out these cheese trays after the show with chesses, pate (sp?), fruits, breads and other assorted goodies. I scarf.
Members bassred Posted March 27, 2007 Members Posted March 27, 2007 I try not to eat any less than 2 hours before go time, and I try to get a lot of protein, so no sammiches and fries for me.... I don't eat after a gig because it's usually close to the time I'll be sleeping, and you shouldn't do that, plus you've probably pulled in enough calories (though not the right kind) during the gig with alcohol intake....
