Members GMOGreg Posted April 4, 2007 Members Posted April 4, 2007 I work at a pizza place and we have:Coors LightBud LightBudFat TireRed Nectar AmberSierra Nevada Pale Ale I think we should get rid of one of the lights and Fat Tire (with the Red Nectar we have two ambers and just about every place in town has Fat Tire). I think we should get an IPA (from a local brewery, we don't have any currently and there are at least 5 breweries within an hour). And a microbrewed lager or maybe have a rotating seasonal tap. He doesn't want to change things though...

Members jonathan_matos5 Posted April 4, 2007 Members Posted April 4, 2007 keep the fat tire add the micro brew:thu:
Members RoboChrist Posted April 4, 2007 Members Posted April 4, 2007 If he doesn't agree just open a pub beside it and make better pizza.
Members Crescent Seven Posted April 4, 2007 Members Posted April 4, 2007 There are much better micros than Fat Tire, which really isn't a micro anymore. I can't drink the stuff anymore...C7
Members Svi Posted April 4, 2007 Members Posted April 4, 2007 Sam Adam's makes great seasonal brews. Maybe take out the Bud Light and throw that in there. Bud light sucks, IMO.

I can't drink the stuff anymore...C7 snob. it did expand it's distribution and is ultra trendy right now, and that's why he'd be silly to drop it. You live in CO where it's beer around for a long time. Last summer all the bars in chicago couldn't keep it in stock!!! So you can push your nose up at it, but it's still to "in" beer in all the places they just started shipping to. Greg, what about getting Bell's on Tap? It's almost Oberon Season!

C7 I agree; it's grocery store beer around here. I do like the 1554, though. I think a local IPA would be a good choice.
Members L-1329 Posted April 4, 2007 Members Posted April 4, 2007 Just don't even THINK about getting rid of the Sierra Nevada!

I totally agree! Add in Magic Hat #9 (goes damn good with Pizza) and you guys will be all set! Where are you guys located?
Members Svi Posted April 4, 2007 Members Posted April 4, 2007 Greg, what about getting Bell's on Tap? It's almost Oberon Season! Didn't you hear the awful news? Bell's stopped distribution to IL.
Members catphish Posted April 4, 2007 Members Posted April 4, 2007 Didn't you hear the awful news? Bell's stopped distribution to IL. SAY WHAT?!?! this better be a late April Fools joke....
Members bnyswonger Posted April 4, 2007 Members Posted April 4, 2007 Maybe take out the Bud Light and throw that in there. Bud light sucks, IMO. You don't do that. You'd lose sales to the sorry multitudes who won't drink anything else. You've got Sierra Nevada on tap? Kwitcherbitchin.
Members catphish Posted April 4, 2007 Members Posted April 4, 2007 Ack....just found an article... but the bar near my house had it on tap just a week ago.
Members Svi Posted April 4, 2007 Members Posted April 4, 2007 SAY WHAT?!?!this better be a late April Fools joke.... Um, no. Far from it. When we were there in August of last year, we stocked up at the General Store because we knew it was coming. I even had my local liquor store bring in as much as he could. From what I know, it's still true. I think I'll be making many trips up to Kalamazoo next season...
Members B-Bottom Posted April 4, 2007 Members Posted April 4, 2007 I drink a lot of beer and I can honestly say that I'v enever heard of flat tire. Getting rid of lite beer would be stupid. the magority of people nowadays drink light beer.

I'm lucky my parents live in Racine now so I've always got the spotted cow, but I'll miss my oberon and two hearted Ale.

My parents have a summer house about 30 minutes west of Kalamazoo. We make a trip there for lunch when we go up. They have great food, too. Ever think about giggin there? SA Rios' band played there about two years ago. Lots of fun, free beer for the band!!! Btw, here's the confirmation on the beer distribution: http://www.bellsbeer.com/beerfinder.asp

Actually at my store the Red Nectar has been selling better, we got it in a couple of months ago and it has been selling really well. It think this area is oversaturated with Fat Tire; every restaurant in the area with taps has it. Red Nectar on the other had, I haven't seen anywhere else. I think we need to go with more unique beers. If it helps I'm in Northern California and these are the bigger microbreweries in Humboldt County:http://www.eelriverbrewing.com/ (my favorite local brewery but they are expensive)http://www.madriverbrewing.com/ (probably the best Local IPA and all their other beers are damn good)http://www.lostcoast.com/ (a lot of people like their Great White, it might be a good replacement for one of the light beers, but again it's a bit oversaturated)http://www.sixriversbrewery.com/ (imo the worst of the locals but they have some good seasonals) Mendocino County also has some very good breweries that I think my boss should look into...
Members catphish Posted April 4, 2007 Members Posted April 4, 2007 Ever think about giggin there? SA Rios' band played there about two years ago. yeah, hopefully in August or September (if the booking guy isn't blowing smoke up my arse)
Members Thunderbroom Posted April 4, 2007 Members Posted April 4, 2007 I think I'll be making many trips up to Kalamazoo next season... Guess I'm finally going to have to try it this Summer. My inlaws live just north of K'zoo.
