Members Funkee1
I know this sounds like a joke, but.......Javelin thrower makes near-fatal mistake! There's video too..... July 16, 2007Javelin Thrower Spears Person with Errant Toss : Finnish thrower Tero Pitkamaki slipped as he was releasing his javelin at an international competition in Rome on Friday, spearing long jumper Salim Sdiri of France in the back (painful video link). Sdiri's kidney and liver were injured by the 10-cm deep wound. "A shocked-looking Pitkamaki held his head in his hands after the incident but took his next throw in the javelin competition." Members thelurker
I saw earlier they were blaming the thrower, but guess what - If you're down range and in range, you really ought to watch what's going on around you.

Members Thumper
I'd think a javelin competition would be like a live-fire range---the down-range area should be cleared before competing.
Members Hunter6
Yes it does. Watch as it changes angles after the throw toward the top left of the screen just on the inside of the track, you can see it hit the dude in the back.

Members Deacon_blue
In high school our new gym teacher was ultra cautious about any javelin tossing, it seems he knew of a kid in New York state that got one through the temples.
