Members SB900LE Posted July 21, 2007 Members Posted July 21, 2007 Any comments on these strings from actual users would be appreciated. How do they compare to other coated strings? And are they black? Thanks.
Members Jamacuco Posted July 21, 2007 Members Posted July 21, 2007 I tried a 45-105 set on my JBass and they looked cool (yeah, they are black) but the high end on those was nonexistant compared to a (40-100) D'Addario set I used to replace them. I figure thay are better on fretless for that dark jazz vibe. Huge response on the low-mids. I still have them to test them on a fretless.
Members Verne Andru Posted July 21, 2007 Members Posted July 21, 2007 I heard those were SS strings - yes/no? No high end?
Members bholder Posted July 21, 2007 Members Posted July 21, 2007 I like 'em. Yes, they're stainless. Plenty of high end (maybe not quite as much as Hi Beams).
Members One Bad Monkey Posted July 21, 2007 Members Posted July 21, 2007 I had a set of the Red Devils (DR's red coated ones) on my Warwick a year or two ago. They started out pretty good; felt good, sounded great, etc.. When they went dead (which was only two months in), they sounded like crap. Way too tubby, with no definition whatsoever. Definitely a let-down for me.
Members SB900LE Posted July 21, 2007 Author Members Posted July 21, 2007 Thanks, all. I may indeed try them on my junk-around jazz. Am actually looking around for different flats (than Fender) for my Rogue Beatle bass, in case youse guys have any comments toward that. [TI's are great of course, but I'm hoping for something nice but less expen$ive, in general, but then considerd trying these coated things.]
Members MrJoshua Posted July 21, 2007 Members Posted July 21, 2007 They sound great on my St. Blues P/J. Still trucking along after months of playing on them.
