Members Thunderbroom Posted July 21, 2007 Members Posted July 21, 2007 ...they were written by one of the singers in my band.http://www.myspace.com/katiequickmusic She's written over 40 songs since the beginning of the year (our band is her first ever and she just started playing guitar earlier this year). I've been pushing my band to work on her songs but due to our gigging and personal schedules, we just haven't had time to collaborate. She went to Nashville and recorded three tracks a couple of weeks ago. I'm hoping this will be the push that the band needs to get going with this. Of the three, I think "Home" is the one that will sit best with our band. I've heard some of her other stuff that's not on MySpace and think it's pretty good as well. Anyway, I'm just looking for HONEST feedback on the songs as I'm not very objective. I like all the songs and see potential in each.
Members sarabella Posted July 21, 2007 Members Posted July 21, 2007 Not bad at all, but I think she sounds much better in person. She's definitely a good singer, and the songs are pleasant (not my cup of tea, but it's the genre and not her). I agree with you about "Home".
Members One Bad Monkey Posted July 22, 2007 Members Posted July 22, 2007 They're good, but I don't know how much is having Nashville sidemen on the recording and how much is her arrangement of the song. Nothing at this point really pulled me in to say "Wow, I'd like to here the rest of this song!" which may sound harsh but you know the five second rule. They all just kind of sat there and didn't offer a lot of movement/building to them. That being said, I DO hear a lot of good things there, and with some trial and error and testing songs on the stage (which is the best way to find out what the crowd likes, IMO), I think she'll really have some good tunes.

Members tylytle Posted July 22, 2007 Members Posted July 22, 2007 Me being in an original/cover Country band... I can say stuff here. I like her songs. I look for a story of some kind, not just rambling crap. Has to make sense. The Lyrics are good. The music sounds like a rough idea as what needs to be done. I would love to hear what they sound like when you get them hashed out.(kinda like the songs on my MySpace need the same thing). You ready to trade a gig yet?? HEHE
Members Jim-Bass Posted July 22, 2007 Members Posted July 22, 2007 they're good. She has a good voice (not to mention a pretty face). The first song 'I Want you Bad', the vocal recording is either too loud or the instruments too low and a bit muddy. But that might just be my speakers! In any case it's x 100 better than what I record ...just trying to give an honest comment there as you've asked. But the overall quality of the songs more than makes up for any thing I might pick out ... I played in a country band for a little while ....just part time 'for fun' stuff. It was the band of my guitarist friend Barney. I wanted to call us 'BarnYard' ....I thought that was a hoot, but he wouldn't use it. I mention this because 'Home' reminds me of 1 or 2 of the songs we did
