I bought a bass Rockman and enjoyed it until it came off my belt and hit the floor . . . hasn't worked since. It had maybe 24 hrs total use time.

 

I now use a lil Danelectro POS I got for $10; doesn't sound as good but I have dropped it and it's still working.

I have a Pockit Rockit. Attaches directly to the bass and has CD/iPod in and headphone out.

Theres a variety of decent to downright excellent imo multi processors all of which have headphone connection, out there. Prefers Zoom. Of course the lowest priced offerings by all the mfg of these are terrible. But the mid to upper end models can be very nice for headphone use, direct to club Pa, direct to recorder, and as processor ahead of amp.

 

Of the old pocket walkman type bass heaqdphone amps. Cant remember the brand name, but the line created by Bostons (the band of old) guitarist was most popular and had couple pretty good bass versions. Maybe someone remembers brand name in case you come across used on for sale?
