Members GRANKOR
thinking of picking up one of these as a project bass. What's the consensus on Dean basses in general? If I get one I'll be replacing the bridge, pickups etc

Members GRANKOR
I was being serious! I know it looks garish but is it likely to be terribly made and not worth upgrading?
Members Good Shirt
It comes in pink too lol! If you're after that particular look, then there's no reason you couldn't slap on some better hardware and pickups to improve the tone. The Dean website doesn't say anything specific about specs, so I'd assume they're using cheap generic parts.
Members GRANKOR
I think I'll go for it, it's only cheap. I don't want the pink though, that's horrid!
Members bassman1956
Wasn't someone going to pick one of those up a few months back, then put a black racing stripe on it a la Dodge Super Bee? I think that would be sooo slick!
Members Roguetitan
I played one of those the other day at Humbuckers, It sounded decent but the Squire J next to it sounded and looked better. I would put the psychodelic Dean in the same class as the Rogue LX
Members justinbass
With a good setup, and better pickups it'll be a good bass. Edit: I am 100% in favor of truly ugly, bold basses. There are way too many black basses.

Members Mytola
Well, as Paul Gilbert say: "Only the manliest of men plays pink and green guitars". I guess that counts for basses as well.
