Members YO55l
There are so many Basses on eBay, ranging from I am a lead guitar player but I want to have a bass to do some home recording. I don't like junk but on the other hand I am looking for a good value. What models do you suggest?

Members slapthefunkyfour
Just about anything from Yamaha or Ibanez will be a very good value. You could get an SX (www.rondomusic.com) and upgrade it with new pups and a new bridge, and you would have a very nice bass.

Members YO55l
How much are you willing to spend? Up to $500 or there about. The sound would be classic rock. With good P'UPs.

Members HumptyThumpty
G&L Tribute L-2000 used is not a bad choice. A lot of fourmites here love them. They will do classic rock and a bunch of other sounds too. Here is an example of what you can get them for. http://cgi.ebay.com/G-L-Tribute-L-2000-Swamp-Ash-Electric-Bass-Guitar_W0QQitemZ200133590876QQihZ010QQcategoryZ4713QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Also, when I was looking for my P Bass I couldn't find a MIA used for $500 so I got a MIJ, just as good IMO. Members Roguetitan
I own Fender P and J bassI also own a Schecter, Yammy and a Ibbybut the best Bass I own for the money spent is LX400 Pro I also own the LX 406 6 string model also they are very nice looking and very playable right out of the box, I did however set the Bass' up to my liking as I do all of my bass guitars with a low action and unbelivably this bass plays and sounds as good as the most expensive bass I own.if you get this Bass you will not be disapointed. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Rogue-LX400-Pro-4String-Electric-Bass?sku=519276
Members SB900LE
I'm still high on this Squier that's not a Squier (i.e., it's a lot better): http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Squier-Vintage-Modified-70s-Jazz-Bass?sku=519639 (Sounding like a broken record at this point when I say) Attractive, good quality, good tone, Great reviews all around -- only $280. Members Gruntollio Bass
Have look at Ibanez ATK basses. They sound as good as some Basses 3 time their value and play really nice. I got one a few months back and love it. You should be able to pick them up brand new for anywhere between $650 to $850 for a 4 string and about $100 extra for a 5. Members Thumper
Used MIA P bass... +1. Or used MIJ P-bass, or a Tokai/Penco/Ibanez/Univox 'lawsuit' copy from the '80s. They're nice basses and are way undervalued as players. http://cgi.ebay.com/Early-70s-Ibanez-Fender-Jazz-Bass-Lawsuit-Copy_W0QQitemZ280138407782QQihZ018QQcategoryZ38080QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
