Our local oldies station mentioned that the PBS station was airing, "Respect Yourself: The Stax Records Story" tonight.

Man - this is good stuff and it confirms what I've always thought - music helped change this country in terms of race relations.

Steve Cropper, Donald "Duck" Dunn, Wayne Jackson (The Mar-Keys), Jim Stewart, his sister, Estelle Axton (who was really the force behind Stax), William Bell, Marvin Davis, Al Jackson, Otis Redding, Booker T Jones - oh my goodness... this is history that you need to see if you haven't. I get chill bumps thinking about these guys and what they accomplished.

If you get a chance, watch it.

I'll have to look for that one, it'd make a great companion to Standing in the Shadows of Motown.......

Yep. There was a lot of competition between Stax, Motown, Chicago and Philly - we ended up with superb competition and the music produced will be around for years to come - it's timeless.
