Members Captain Fathead Posted August 2, 2007 Members Posted August 2, 2007 I've got a spare set of tuners and a string tree lying around. I've also got an MIM P bass. How are the fretless Mighty mite necks? Comparable to the fender? Just want to get a fretless without spending too much money (ebay seller has the MM necks for around $110 shipped).
Members Thumper Posted August 3, 2007 Members Posted August 3, 2007 Mighty Mite necks are pretty decent. It should be a direct drop-in replacement for your MIM body. You might want to pm HCBF member Gretschzildjian for details. IIRC he bought a Mighty Mite neck off eBay for a project.
Members justinbass Posted August 3, 2007 Members Posted August 3, 2007 I believe Chris Dax also did this with success.
Members chris-dax Posted August 3, 2007 Members Posted August 3, 2007 I believe Chris Dax also did this with success. bingo....I got mine for something like $100....it was pretty straight forward although I am glad I had had some wood working (cabinet maker) experience because I failed to realize that the neck would have to be drilled for the pocket screws and for the machine screws. That was more than a little nervous for me, but it came out great.... I had more trouble than I wanted getting it finished. If I did it again, I'd probably take it to a furniture guy and have hims stain and seal to my preference... just because I only have some many brain cells.... the project was a total success, and until I got my Lakland recently, I was on that thing day and night. I installed it on a mexican jazz that had been hot rodded with DiMarzio Ultra Jazz pups and a BadassII bridge. I put some flats on that thing and just love it....I think the neck is a very good quality piece of wood and the ebanol board seems to be perfect. here's a pic of my project...
Members el_duderino676 Posted August 3, 2007 Members Posted August 3, 2007 I put a Mighty Mite neck on my Frankencision project a while back. Was pretty straightforward to do, but as chris-dax said, you have to be a little handy with tools to drill the holes for all the screws.
Members takeout Posted August 3, 2007 Members Posted August 3, 2007 Another satisfied customer. I love mine.
Members sunburstbasser Posted August 3, 2007 Members Posted August 3, 2007 I used a fretless Mite for a project some time back. Worked very well. That bass sucks, but it isn't because of the neck!
