Members HoldingThsMoment
I agree with ASS. I'm running a 2.9L VR6 @ 200hp/200 lb/ft of torque as it is and I plan to have about 400 when I'm done with my project. It's perfectly do-able. I don't think the cost is the point. Half the fun is getting your car to that point. amen brotha. no disrespect to 78pbass or anything as i can see where it would look like it would be a stretch to get that little 2.5L to work but it's a stout little motor. before i swapped the turbo i was running more or less the same setup (except no injectors or FMIC) and i was running 335hp/373wtq to the ground just on the stock turbo. the worst part was that i never got to take the latest setup to the track (drag strip) because my clutch was more or less toast. when i reverted back to stock the slipping went away (go figure) but it was a shame. with the stock turbo setup the best time i mustered up was a 12.6 @ 108mph. the FP green setup probably would have netted me 11.8-12.0 @ around 115-116mph. anywho, carry on thread! Members Mytola
Cars.I have about 3k I want to spend on my little Honda...and that's not including the stuff to turbo AND supercharge it when i get there... Why not just a smaller turbo that spools up quicker, and then a big turbo as well?

Members xOriginalNinjax
Why not just a smaller turbo that spools up quicker, and then a big turbo as well? Running twin turbo on a Honda is possible...but a bigger pita than a super/turbo setup imho. Because then you have two turbos to worry about setting up off the same exhaust header and lots of wastegate/blowoff valve/intercooling issues that I don't want the headache of...not to mention, if you ran a super charger and a turbo, you only have to setup for each...which is easier as the super runs off the belt and really needs few other accessories added. Members jmb374
Other than a wife... Fishing- Seriously. First you need a boat, in my case a 23ft Center console. Then you need tackle. Lots of it. Then you need gas. Lots and lots of it. 12 miles out to the rigs from the boat ramp. That eats a lot of fuel. GPS, VHF, Downriggers, oil, they all add up. Bass is a drop in the bucket compared to this stuff. But I play bass 10 times as much as I fish.
Members ec437
While it's...possible......I'd imagine ignition mapping is going to be a bitch and a half. If a super/turbo combo was a viable option, I'm sure you'd see people doing it. With a V-TEC engine, I'd suggest getting a smaller turbo with less lag, because once you get to the point that the turbo peaks out you're going to be into variable-valve territory and then the motor takes over. (I'm looking at putting a Stage 4 BBM super kit in my Corrado, btw. Looking at 400whp with 91 octane pump gas). It has been done before. I recall once seeing a BMW M3 that (if I remember right) had twin turbos and supers. Oh, and one other thing. I don't care how you slice it, hondas are not expensive. I'm on BMW #4 right now, and just for this one have already dumped almost $1000 into parts in the first 4 months, and still have to reupholster the driver's seat, fix the headliner, get $800 of body work done, and reseal the top half of the engine, some of the transmission, and the differential. Just seems like more money than it's worth for most applications. I was considering going TT but it's more money and shop time than the benefit at this point. So Mitsu's and Honda's are pretty much both lumped into the 'cars I eat for breakfast' territory. Hahaha. I'm trying my hardest to NOT fall in the "{censored}ty ricer" category. I hate ricers with a frickin passion. My mom's boyfriend drives a vette stingray with a wonderfully gorgeous blower and supercharger with dual side pipes...and I know there's no way on this green earth that I'll ever be able to take that car with my Honda...without a SERIOUS motor transplant from something with more than 100hp...and I don't plan on it. I'm just sick of people teasing my "little Honda" because lots of people have the rep of making them "show worthy" and not backing it up with the motor power...or people do the opposite and make them look like they might fall apart after 55...but are good drivers...I want a decent looking car that I could take and people would go "looks nice and clean...not too blingy and not too bland" while at the same time laying down 12-13's at the track. Which is turbo territory in a Honda, yes, and while I understand this and all, I enjoy my car as much as anyone else, and try not to get the "I drive a Honda and I have Vtec" attitude...because that really means nothing to be quite honest. I used to drive an LS400 that would probably eat that thing for lunch Even my bimmer now would give it a run for its money, at the least. He almost kept up with an SRT-4 Neon the other night...and I know this because I was following them at a safe distance (200 feet or so at least) just to see...I honestly think I could ALMOST hang with him now with my Vtec not engaging...if I had my Vtec and my motor was running fine, I think it'd be pretty even. Without the Vtec on a vtec'd motor...you're kinda up a creek without a paddle...because they're tuned to have that high-cam engage...and if it doesn't...you don't get near as much power... Members K7Baixo
Yep...was into ham radio in a big way a few years ago. Radios and all of the accessories are expensive. I was also into old Land Rovers - had 3.5 of them. Parts are expensive and they always need work. I sold them all when I accepted a job overseas and while I miss them, I don't miss working on them. Now, it's mainly bass and motorcycles. All of the equipment for adventure riding adds up. New triple clamps and steering dampener? $1000 - bought mine used for $500. Aluminum bags? $1200 - got a good friend discount so it was only $500. New helmet? $400. Jacket: $250. It goes on and on and on. Next hobby will be folding sea kayaks. I've got my eyes on a Long Haul Mark 1. The plan is to do a trip from Iquitos Peru to Manaus by way of the Amazon in 2010. If that goes well (read: I survive), I'd like to go from Manaus to Belem and then from the area south of Iquitos to Iquitos. I can dream can't I? No worries. I have 6 vintage volkswagens. The fastest runs a 13.00 1/4 mile. Most people don't believe that, but I have buddy eddie who runs 11 flat and know several people with sub 10 second cars. In fact we're racing at Bandimere sunday. you can build a 10 second bug for under $10k. A standard bug motor is under 60 HP.
Members Bass8987
I work out all the time. I'm a college student, so the Rec Center is all free, however, I take boxing and yoga classes which cost $40 each (not that much). I plan on adding martial arts this upcoming Fall semester. The supplements add up big time and I eat around 6-7 meals a day. So lots of food and nutrition. My other big hobby is reading. I just go to the library and check out books instead of buying them. Members Crescent Seven
Pot. My brotha! I don't spend money on pot anymore, though. Right now, I'm not spending money on anything, really. I'd say my next most expensive hobby is snowboarding, but because it's so expensive, I don't get to do it as much. I have all the gear so my investment is nil at this point, but lift tickets are $60+ and it's a half tank of gas or more to get up the hill. It's worth it though, there's no feeling like it that I've found. I love being on stage in front of crowds, it's a huge rush, and I'd compare it to riding a snowboard in powder when no one else is around and it's completely...silent.
