ok, so we've just direct printed 30 odd cd's with our logo etc., now we're going to work on the insert to go inside the cd. I'm kinda wondering what paper to use, I know nothing about glossy paper or what is normally used on cd inserts. I'd rather not use normal paper if possible, it tends to look a little cheap and tacky...

any takers?

For the exact reason you mention (cheap and tacky) we just put a label on the CD itself and that's it. It's got all of the info right on it...band name, contact, song names...

Otherwise, I'm not sure what to use. I'd so a little trial and error, or head to a print shop and ask some questions. They'd probably be fairly helpful...until they find out that you're not going to use them!

cheers guitargod

we've printed most of our stuff on the CD itself, but we're also just tryin to make it look a little more professional...which is where all the headaches have begun. Even photoshop is making my printer print a sick coloured green instead of bright yellow...im tearin my hair out!

Glossy paper is not really that much more expensive than regular paper

go to Office Max or Office Depot

they have materials that are spesifically made for cd cases and cd covers.

Just a suggestion... if you go to the Musicians Friend website, there's a company named Diskfactory that will reproduce the whole CD for you. They'll do 100 for $300, full color. We've used them a bunch, the turnaround time is really good and there's no need for assembly. They also come shrinkwrapped.
