Members Hand Amputation
I want to replace the pickups in my newly acquired Mexi P-bass. I dont want to spend a ton of money, just want an improvement. I saw some on guitarfetish.com that looked decent. Anyone help me out? PM me cause I usually hang out in the Effects Forum. Thank you in advance.

Members i_wanna_les_paul
I thought about those. Are they pretty much the standard? Yeah, they're a pretty good standard replacement, especially if you want a bit more muscle. Some like the Dimarzio Model P for basic replacements, others prefer the QP's or SD's more vintage-sounding pickups. Dustin

Moderators ThudMaker Posted August 8, 2007 Moderators Share Posted August 8, 2007 The 1/4 pounder is a hotter output than stock. You can also change the pots out from 250k to 500k and get more open tone. I did both these mods to my Mexican P.
Members justinbass
I like the SD 1/4 pounders because with the tone knob they go from raw rock, to vintage thump. Great pickups.

Moderators isaac42 Posted August 8, 2007 Moderators Share Posted August 8, 2007 I'm partial to Bartolinis, but, then, I'm not really a P-bass man.
