Members wilki29
usa jazz pickups should be pretty good, but look into seymour duncans. They have some pretty nice pickups. Mainly its about what kind of tone you want. When you figure that out, the possibilites are endless.

Members two_eyes
i have just put some flat wound on it and am looing for like a deep mellow tone, prob like a real fat mellow tone that would go well doing chill out music, if that makes any sence at all, away from my marcus miller style to a own sound that would be use if doing little 2 or 3 piece gigs for cafe. thanks very mush highly need it iain
Members Carvinstein
Nordstrand makes a killer split humbucker that physically looks like a jazz style, but sounds like a p-bass with a little more high end definition. If you deep and mellow to go with your flat wounds go for Seymour Duncans 1/4 pounder.
Members countrybass
yea SD 1/4 pounders!!
Members guitargod0dmw
I don't think the 1/4 pounders will get a mellow tone! I like Nordstrand as well. You might also want to look into Delano...
Members bassman1956
For deep mellow, I think it would be hard to beat Bartolini's. Not like the others aren't awesome pups. But for dark smooth chill-out, I would think Barts. That's just me.
Members guitargod0dmw
For deep mellow, I think it would be hard to beat Bartolini's. For some reason I always forget about them...yet I have them on my basses! Go figure. Dark and smooth is definitely what they best. I have a Bart preamp as well and the whole package just sounds amazing.
