Members Sonic1
I have a problem with my acoustic bass and am wondering if there is a fix or if it's trash. For some reason the bridge if pulling away from the body at the aft end. I have loosened all of the strings and am wondering if there's a way to reseat it and if so, how? Thanks. Members ec437
That may well be fixable. I don't know enough to say for sure. How old is the bass? It may be under warranty.
Members fretless
yup needs a bridge reseating , IIRC 80 to 150 bucks or so but have a good Luthier do it so he/she can check the internal bracing etc.
Members thelurker
Man, I totally thought this was about some bridge somewhere that might fall into a river! My bad!
Members georgestrings
On the Dean AEBs I've seen, there are 2 bolts with washers and nuts that tighten down to hold the bridge to the top - and every one I checked out needed a bit of tightening, to keep the bridge from lifting up eventually - maybe that's your case as well??? It isn't the easiest operation, but not undoable - you get the right size nut driver, take the strings off, and carefully reach through the sound hole to tighten them up - taking care not to rip loose any wiring.... I also applied a spot of blue locktite on each of the bolts, to insure that they stayed tight - and be sure not to over-tighten them... - georgestrings
Members Sonic1
Thanks again for all of your thoughts. I'm hoping that it is just held in place mechanically and not with adhesive. That would be a less expensive fix. I think my pegs are bent too. But that's cheap also.
Members Jazz Ad
It's fixable but it's a job for a pro.Not extremelly difficult but a PITA nonetheless that requires the right tools. The bridge block needs to be glued back or replaced. I would't expect it to be done for much less than $150.
