Members The Unknown
I'm still wondering which I should get... considering I have a G&L L-2500 Opinions ?
Members Captain Fathead
The L2K can do both nicely. I have a P to back mine up, but that's just because I prefer thicker necks/thump. I really would like to have both. Go to a guitar store and play 'em both. The P feels more similar to the G&L (similar neck profile), so it's an easier transition for me. Members AnalogKid
Depends on what you need it for. I still don't understand how this question doesn't answer itself within 30 seconds of having played both. Either your a P guy or a J guy. Or, in some cases, both. Members Ender_rpm
Used to own a L2500, loved the sounds, but the neck was too big. The only sound I found I really wanted, but couldn't get, was a good Jazz sound. Yes, you have the series/parallel switches, but they don't quite get it IMO. P thump is a no brainer, as is Stingray slice. The both on, passive, parallel (IIRC, thats the thiner sounding one, yeah?) was too thin for me. YMMV
Members T. Alan Smith
Your G&L can get closer to a J than a P. Get a P. The simplicity of the P should be pretty inspiring after being used to all the options on the G&L. I know that's how it is for me.

Members whit townsend
G&L 2500?Why do you need another bass.Buy a different shirt if it doesn't go with what you are wearing. Agreed. But if you must have a backup, I'd go with a basic P.
Members mrcrow
after careful consideration and the use of J P and P/J..i have a ray 5 nowi would go for the jazz...and fit some retro to open it up..despite a few years on P i could never get that clean mid cut on the lower end..probably because i didnt use a pickthe jazz did it kind of quietly and the ray just pours out mid and lower mid without recourse to a lot of volumeits a winner for my situation but a jazz would suit me with eq added
