Members Crescent Seven
I don't know if I'm off-base or whatever, but I can't stop thinking that Bob Murray is a {censored}ing prick that's trying to cover his ass. Something tells me he was complicit in whatever created the unsafe conditions in that mine... Sad day. I'm not optimistic they're going to find anyone alive at this point, but I guess they can't stop trying, you know?Sucks.C7

I'm not giving up hope yet that people are still alive. Remember after the World Series earthquake in San Fran back in 88 they were still finding survivors in the rubble three weeks later. It's not over until the bodies are recovered.

Terrible tragedy though You truly need balls of steel to work in the mining industry, it's dangerous, hard work.

He's only been there a year or two, so he wasn't complicit in creating the unsafe conditions, but he sure is complicit with continuing to send people into danger after multiple warning signs and close calls. I hope the blowback from this bankrupts him and puts him in the poor house - as far as I can tell, he's basically guilty of intentional negligence causing preventable disasters that killed people, for his own personal profit. Hard as it may seem, there are such things as accidents, nowadays. With all the lawyers around one wouldn't know it but accidents do exist. I know it's hard to believe but it's true. Soldiers who enlist (volunteer) in the armed services do get hurt and killed. It's a high risk profession. Mining is a high risk job and all miners know it. Mine owners and the feds do what they can to make mines safe but they are inherently dangerous. I am not siding with anyone on this but the Earth does move, the climate does change, the heavens do move and there isn't a GD thing we can do about it. My thoughts are with them and their families and I hope we get some good news.

Sure, there are accidents. That doesn't excuse rich men taking risks with the lives of poor men by sending them in to conditions guaranteed to cause preventable accidents. Bob Murray has been caught in so many lies now trying to squirm out of taking any responsibility that it is not funny. I admire the bravery of the miners, and I feel for their families. I despise the cowardice, heartlessness, and greed of men like Bob Murray.
Members hawkhuff
I hate those who convict before the evidence is in. So, you're saying he did this? There is no such thing as a mountain shifting? Or there was no seismic activity? We all take risks of one kind or another. I don't hate the rich. Why do you hate the rich? I hate lying scumbags, whether they're rich or poor, but I have a particular dislike for the ones that take advantage of others and profit from others' misfortunes. He lied about the type of mining that had been done there, he lied about previous cave-ins, and most importantly, he lied about the seismic evidence. The geologists and seismologists have concluded from the data that there was no earthquake that caused the cave-in, as Murray as been claiming, but rather, that the evidence very clearly shows that the cave-in itself caused the appearance of an earthquake. Members hawkhuff
They weren't as cock sure of that as you are. None of the ones I heard anyway. As I said, mountains do shift. In fact, that is suposedly what happened last night in the second collapse. And I would bet the management and the gubmint was there during the digging. Maybe he was doing this stuff when they weren't looking.
