Members __tony__renaud Posted August 18, 2007 Members Posted August 18, 2007 I saw Porter Wagoner host the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville a few months ago. He was a good MC, but forgot some of the words of a song he was singing. He's also in the "special content" of the "Borat" DVD.
Members chubrocker Posted August 18, 2007 Members Posted August 18, 2007 I grew up watching his show as well as Hee Haw and Grand Ole Opry. He's a classy act IMO. My folks were into "old" country so I have a natural liking for it. Many of them have faded with the rest fading away---Porter, Merle, etc.--which is kinda sad. It's an era that will never be again.
Members J. Posted August 18, 2007 Members Posted August 18, 2007 He rules. My favorite tunes of his are "The Cold Hard Facts of Life" and "The Carol County Accident." Excellent stuff. They just had his 50th anniversary celebration at the Grand Ole Opry and aired it on GAC. I watch some of it and it wasn't bad. Dolly Parton came out and they sang some of their old duets.
Members lug Posted August 18, 2007 Members Posted August 18, 2007 I even like the White Stripes a little more now.
