Members Thunderbroom Posted August 23, 2007 Members Posted August 23, 2007 because it's clear to me that my tree hates me. For those that have followed the saga, here's what I hope to be the last installment. Last night I got a knock on my door from the local police. They were informing me that there was a tree on my truck. I went out and helped the three of them get it off the truck in a torrential downpour. Since they couldn't get it moved, the blocked off the street until this morning. I went out this morning and snapped a few pics: From my front door... The truck was parked against the curb. The village is coming by to remove the tree and FINALLY cut down the rest of the tree and remove the stump. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the truck. I know that I'm not going to repair it though.
Members burdizzos Posted August 23, 2007 Members Posted August 23, 2007 Damn! That sucks. That was going to be a sweet ride for your daughter in a couple of years. You should just become a tree assassin. Go get a chainsaw today and fight back!

Members burdizzos Posted August 23, 2007 Members Posted August 23, 2007 I don't think my daughter realizes yet that she's off the hook. Based on your draconian parenting style, I'd be shocked if your kids even expect to get automobiles when they reach driving age.
Members fretless Posted August 23, 2007 Members Posted August 23, 2007 That's a bummer , could thing no one was hurt .

As soon as my daughter starts laughing about the truck and realizing that she won't have to drive it, I will then remind her that since that's the case she should start lining up some more babysitting gigs.
Members Thunderbroom Posted August 23, 2007 Author Members Posted August 23, 2007 That's a bummer , could thing no one was hurt . Yep. When the cops came, I was all smiles and laughing. One of the guys looked puzzled and asked me why I wasn't mad. Why would I be mad? Did someone maliciously come onto my street and knock the tree onto my truck? It's just a truck, and as you said, no one got hurt.

I never made fun of my Dad's POS truck for that very reason.

It's a nuisance that is finally going to be gone.

Members Thunderbroom Posted August 23, 2007 Author Members Posted August 23, 2007 is it your tree or a city tree? It belongs to the village. I'm going to ask them for another tree but don't expect that they'll oblige.
Members skatalite Posted August 23, 2007 Members Posted August 23, 2007 Same thing happened to some vehicles in my neighborhood last weekend: This... Led to this... And then ya had this...
Members Thunderbroom Posted August 23, 2007 Author Members Posted August 23, 2007 I seriously need to cut my grass too, but it's been raining pretty consistently for a week or so now.

Then again, I can't get anything to grow in my front yard that get taller than 6".

Members skatalite Posted August 23, 2007 Members Posted August 23, 2007 No kidding. We have a huge tree in our front yard that, if it would've been knocked over, would've caved in our garage.

The truck cost me $250. I'm not interested in fighting with the village. My wife is on the Planning & Zoning Commission. We regularly attend the Village's Invitation-Only Christmas Party and are friends with the Mayor. It was an act of nature.
Members takeout Posted August 23, 2007 Members Posted August 23, 2007 DON'T HUG THE TREES! They want you to. They're luring you into closer range...

Glad to hear no one was hurt, TB.
Members rummy Posted August 23, 2007 Members Posted August 23, 2007 Yikes, dude. What town is that? I've been lucky so far. Crystal Lake, Elgin, and all these surrounding cities have been hit hard with the t-storms, but we'll see if I'll survive.
Members chunky-b Posted August 23, 2007 Members Posted August 23, 2007 So if a tree falls on your truck in the middle of the night and the police are not there to tell you about it, does it make a sound?
Members misterhinkydink Posted August 23, 2007 Members Posted August 23, 2007 A few years ago a branch from one of my elms fell on my truck doing almost identical damage. You can see the evil branch in this "before" picture.
