Members VinesBass Posted August 24, 2007 Members Posted August 24, 2007 I want to see who you're favorite bassist is. But I don't just wanna see a bunch of voctor wooten and jaco posts. I want to hear bassists that maybe people don't always think about and all that.

Members bassman1964 Posted August 24, 2007 Members Posted August 24, 2007 I grew up listening to Geddy Lee, but over the years I have come to respect bass players like Marcus Miller, Nathan East, Timothy B Schmit.

Members dDigitalPimp Posted August 24, 2007 Members Posted August 24, 2007 hands down best bassist in a band setting (not solo show off crap) is phil lesh of the grateful dead. here is one of the better bass sounding live shows on the archive of the 10 or so i just checked out. turn the bass up on your speakers if you can... http://www.archive.org/details/gd77-05-04.moore.minches.17686.sbeok.shnf second sets are always hotter than firsts and these recordings are not soundboards and from the 70s so they arent the best. check out estimated prophet, scarlet>fire and terrapin station. try hard to key in on phil. he rocks.

Members guitargod0dmw Posted August 24, 2007 Members Posted August 24, 2007 Pete Steele Type O is coming!!! My god I can't wait to go and see them again. One of the best shows I have ever been to. There was one year they were touring and they came here 3 times...once on Halloween, once on Thanksgiving, and once on Christmas Eve...all at different venues. I spent the holidays with them!!! It was great.

Members baracuda2004 Posted August 24, 2007 Members Posted August 24, 2007 Justin Chancellor(Tool) Mike Inez(AIC) Duff McKagen(GNR/Velvet Revolver) Ryan Martinie(Mudvayne) Flea(RHCP) Les Claypool(Primus/Frog Brigade) Robert DeLeo(STP) Johnny Christ(AX7) Tim C. (RATM/Audioslave) Sam Rivers(Limp Bizkit) that guy from "Dust for Life" couldn't find his name anywhere but he's badass , (here's a couple videos of DFL if you like AIC you'll probably like em. They've helped fill that gap for me.) Oh! And there's a special place in my heart for Lug because hearing his mp3's is like a concentrated shot of confidence to the heart and fingertips.
Members guitargod0dmw Posted August 24, 2007 Members Posted August 24, 2007 I saw them in June, met Josh Silver after the show too I've met em' all. One of my friends in high school was the president to the Type O fan club in CT. One day...I was talking to him at work (a grocery store) and Peter Steele walked in looking for him. It was pretty weird to see a 7 foot tall guy come in and look for a teenager. It was totally out of the blue too...but VERY cool when you are 17! He put us all on the guest list for the show that night...
Members mrmatt64 Posted August 24, 2007 Members Posted August 24, 2007 Pino Palladino Tony Levin Jaco still comes first on my list!) Mr. Matt
