Members VinesBass Posted August 24, 2007 Members Posted August 24, 2007 Two amazing guitarists. But who do you favor more for your tastes?
Members Hunter6 Posted August 24, 2007 Members Posted August 24, 2007 Tommy Emmanuel! That guy's KILLER!
Members ezstep Posted August 24, 2007 Members Posted August 24, 2007 I have done a show with Tommy Emmanuel, but his hero was Chet. Toss up. How 'bout Richard Smith?
Members Goofball Jones Posted August 24, 2007 Members Posted August 24, 2007 How about this: both. Why does there have to be a "best"? Both are fine in my book. Both I love to listen to. Both are great!
Members VinesBass Posted August 25, 2007 Author Members Posted August 25, 2007 I never said who is beter, I said who fits your tastes better. And I love Chet's stuff. He was Tommy's influence. But I just go with Tommy, and I have no clue why, just kind of a feeling that makes me like his music more. Although I do love em both.
Members VinesBass Posted August 25, 2007 Author Members Posted August 25, 2007 If you see this thread and haven't listened to these two greats. I recommend you do it right away. It's time well spent.
Members Cortfan Posted August 25, 2007 Members Posted August 25, 2007 They're both great, but Chet is the man.

Just don't understand this...what do you mean "fits your tastes better"? "hmmm, I like Chet, but I think I'm going to go with Tommy because...i don't know, he fits my tastes...my lifestyle...better". I mean, they're two great guitarists. Why does one have to be above the other in someone's "tastes"? I like them both. They're both to my tastes. As is EVH, or Jimmy Page or Eric Clapton or Warren Hayes....they all "fit my tastes".
Members zachoff Posted August 25, 2007 Members Posted August 25, 2007 Chet's a master. One of the only guys you can say was truly the "best" guitarist in the world at one time. Tommy's good and fun to watch, but I'll take Chet. I figure Tommy would vote for Chet too.

If you listen to both of them there's differences in the way they play. And maybe the way their songs hit you make you like that certain one better.
