Members sunburstbasser Posted August 26, 2007 Members Posted August 26, 2007 I was at the music hall of my college practicing earlier. A couple guys walk in to jam. Two of them, the guitarist and drummer, were here last year and are good guys. The bassist is a freshman. So they ask him what he listens to and he says "Yellowcard." It was hard not to laugh at him then. I kinda had my suspicions, since he plays a Fender P bass with the knobs popped off (emo sign there!), but now I'm gonna have to work just to NOT laugh at him!

Members rikshaw Posted August 26, 2007 Members Posted August 26, 2007 She would be right. http://www.fourfa.com you missed the point. she had a great rack!
Members bassdudeguy Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 I kinda had my suspicions, since he plays a Fender P bass with the knobs popped off (emo sign there!), popped off??
Members james on bass Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 I don't have any knobs on my P-bass either, but I'm hardly EMO, nor do I have near enough hair to be one if I tried!
Members Roguetitan Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 popped off?? Popped off= no control knobs on the pot control shafts.
Members Goofball Jones Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 you missed the point. she had a great rack! yes, I didn't really read anything else after "she had a great rack".
Members zachoff Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Oh, Yellowcard is just pop... Not emo, not punk... Just pop.
Members Gruntollio Bass Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 you missed the point. she had a great rack! This thread is useless without pics!
Members catphish Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Oh, Yellowcard is just pop... Not emo, not punk... Just pop. Is there some committee that decides what bands are, and are not, emo? Do they have a website?
Members rikshaw Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Is there some committee that decides what bands are, and are not, emo? Do they have a website? to me, if it is whiney then it is emo. i'm sure that there is a definition like the link that skatalite posted but that is crap and is too stupid for me to care about. there is probably some 'look' that also goes with it but i don't care about that either.
Members xdamagexx Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Is there some committee that decides what bands are, and are not, emo? Do they have a website? if they have girly 3 tone hair and tight pants and scars they probley are EMO. but that description gets thrown around way too much. the other day someone tryed to tell me Lamb of God was EMO. LMAO..
Members rummy Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Why would you laugh at someone who has a difference preference than you? Not everybody listens to the same {censored}.
Members misterhinkydink Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Is there some committee that decides what bands are, and are not, emo? Do they have a website? Yes, there is.
Members chunky-b Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Yes, there is. Careful! You could cause a tear in the space time continuum by linking us back to ourselves!!
Members collinwho Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Yellowcard is hardly emo. Dashboard is hardly emo. Emo has become so dilluted (by people who decided that 'emo' is a bad thing and therefore decided to label everything they dislike as 'emo'), that there really isn't such a thing anymore.
Members Darkstorm Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Hadnt heard of Yellowcard before. So watched a little of a couple vids on youtube. They seem to happy and bouncy and with some music talent to, to be emo to me. Lol. Not bad music from what listened to either.
Members Thumper Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Just dope-slap him and have done with it. That way he has something legitimate to cry about.
Members burdizzos Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 I'm glad that I've out grown the desire to listen to what is deemed cool by other people. On the way home today, I'll be rocking out to Adam Ant and if any of you mother{censored}ers have a problem with that, you can come on over and I'll shove my goody two shoes up your {censored}ing ass!
Members catphish Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 people who decided that 'emo' is a bad thing and therefore decided to label everything they dislike as 'emo'), that there really isn't such a thing anymore. My theory is that there are actually no emo kids or bands, just people who hate the mythological "emo kid" and argue about whether bands are or aren't emo.

But if there aren't emo kids . . . how can I be so certain that I am better than them?
Members sunburstbasser Posted August 29, 2007 Author Members Posted August 29, 2007 Why would you laugh at someone who has a difference preference than you? Not everybody listens to the same {censored}. I laugh at them because there is stuff considerably better than that dribble out there that they are afraid to listen to because they might not "get" it. If he said he listens to something I'd never heard of I wouldn't care, or if he was a metalhead.
