Members 82Daion Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 With a little polish, it's hard to believe it's from 1975, eh? I'll post a full review later, but suffice to say, it's incredible.

Members bassman1956 Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 So, what was it you sold to be able to do this? You still have the Daion, don't you?
Members i_wanna_les_paul Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 So, what was it you sold to be able to do this? You still have the Daion, don't you? He sold some huge, brass thing that had to be on a stand when he wasn't playing it...
Members 82Daion Posted August 29, 2007 Author Members Posted August 29, 2007 The tuba? Indeed it was.
Members 82Daion Posted August 29, 2007 Author Members Posted August 29, 2007 My impressions: Yes, it is heavy, and yes, it neckdives. I'm going to have to get used to that-the neckdive can be fixed pretty easily, though. The neck is big-wide and chunky, but very comfortable. The craftsmanship is of course excellent, and it's held up well over the years-there's some finish checking on the back, and a few small dings around the edges, but nothing too serious. No structural issues at all. The tone is really where it's at, though-this thing goes from grand piano clarity to a great smooth dub sound and everything in between. Plus, the q-switches offer a whole new layer of textures that I haven't heard from any other bass-you can add some Mu-Tron-like effects with extreme settings, or just put a little something extra on the attack of each note. It's quite cool, and I'm going to have to post some clips showing what it can do. The case is impractical for everything but flight-it weighs about 50 pounds. :smack: Other than that, it was entirely worth it. I'm in love.
Members Thumper Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007  I peed a little just looking at that...
Members justinbass Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Time to update the sig, get off your dang computer and play that bass.

Members L-1329 Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Nice! Glad to hear it lives up to your expectations too, nothing better than a killer new bass that is better than you thought it would be. I call first dibs on that Daion if you should ever decide to part with it.
Members bassred Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Glad to hear you got it!!! Looks great!!!!!!!
Members Undead Sycip Posted August 29, 2007 Members Posted August 29, 2007 Very nice. The saga finally ends for you
Members 82Daion Posted August 30, 2007 Author Members Posted August 30, 2007 Thanks for the kind words, guys. After playing around with it some more, the tones on tap are incredible-this blows away just about every bass I've played. I'm going to have to get the case refoamed, though-the padding just disintegrates when touched. I'll be loving this for a long time.
