tone cap addvice for bass

redoing base wiring, what type of tone cap sounds best ? i need a .025 +- for a P bass. using 500k pots.

 

what wire would you use ? solid core or strands, either in cloth insulatio for shure...

 

caps poly? ceramic ? metal film? carbon film ?

Unless I am worried about being "period correct" I care very little about the wire, but at that gauge my preference is solid core.

 

As for caps, the signal itself isn't passing through the cap (the cap being the shunt to ground) so it is not something that has that big of an impact on tone. I tend to use Orange Drops, but I don't worry about it either.

 

I also prefer the values given by mrcrow, but understand why you might prefer 500k/0.022.
