Members bassred
I bet they are selling the convenience. With the setup you've got it is two parts, and the combo is one... same components, but it LOOKS like a litte more work to hook up the first option, so ,seeing as musicians are lazy, the combo would fetch a little more scratch because the user feels they are getting convenience from it too... just my guess. Members Jazz Ad
Well yeah but typically combos tend to be cheaper. For example, a head+cab is usually more expensive than a combo with the same specs.
Members bassred
I know, I was digging... I really don't know.... You never know what goes on in the minds of these companies... oh wait, we do, Hey Hasbeen.................
Members Jazz Ad
What makes the deal even sweeter is that I got everything 2nd hand and that it cost me a grand total of
Members bassred
sweet! I've never had a chance to really sit down with EBS gear, but I've heard that it is very nice!!!
Members Jazz Ad
Yes these are lovely pieces of gear.I bought the cab last year and used it with a SansAmp. Very fast attack and thick punchy lows.I got the MicroBass II this week to replace the SansAmp. It has lovely features but so far I prefer the versatility and warmth of the BDDI to the EBS's straight tone.
Members SpaceGhost
Does the AC-300 have the same power section as the HD350?
Members Jazz Ad
Yes. I asked EBS when I bought it, they said the same power amp is used in all their active cabs, the HD350 and the Gorm combo.
Members fretless
perhaps there is more labor involved getting it in and working with the combo, could be a several hundred dollar compressor ?
Moderators Kindness Posted September 2, 2007 Moderators Share Posted September 2, 2007 I'm as confused as you are, but I like your style. Can you get the MBII to copy the SansAmp tone with some EQing or is it the kind of preamp that maintains a strong personal voicing?
Members bholder
"Gorm" is a funny name, so they had to charge extra for it.
Members Jugghaid
I don't get it either, but I like your setup better anyway. The fact that it's cheaper is a bonus.
Members Jamacuco
Dunno why they charge more for the Gorm than your setup, but your choice looks sweet! EBS rules!
