Members Gaui Posted September 2, 2007 Members Posted September 2, 2007 Just bought a new (used) car! Got a good deal on a '97 Toyota Corolla Touring driven around 65k miles, not bad for a 10 year old car. Plenty of space for gear, could probably fit all the gear my band uses in the back . Its also a 4wd, handy for the winter. Don't have pics yet, but here is one just like it, except mine is bright green.
Members Thumper Posted September 2, 2007 Members Posted September 2, 2007 Nice rig! Are cars expensive in Iceland? (I know that sounds like a 'duh...' question).
Members Gaui Posted September 2, 2007 Author Members Posted September 2, 2007 Nice rig! Are cars expensive in Iceland? (I know that sounds like a 'duh...' question). I think so, not really sure how it is compared to the US. I payed 3000$ for this one. The price for a new Toyota Corolla is around 30.000$.
Members misterhinkydink Posted September 2, 2007 Members Posted September 2, 2007 That's a nice car and a good price. :thu::thu: I wish we could get those here. 1996 was the last year the Corolla Touring/Estate/Break/Station Wagon was imported.
Members SteveyDevey Posted September 2, 2007 Members Posted September 2, 2007 Rock! I loved my old '90 corolla. Great car.

Members Rippin' Robin Posted September 2, 2007 Members Posted September 2, 2007 $30.000 USD for a corolla?!?!! Yes. Welcome to our side of the pond. Then again, the dollar is at ~0.73 euros so everything looks mighty expensive to you Aymerricuns.

Members Mytola Posted September 2, 2007 Members Posted September 2, 2007 $30.000 USD for a corolla?!?!! In Norway it is closer to $50.000 USD. A Fender American standard J or P is around $2500 over here as well.
Members Rippin' Robin Posted September 2, 2007 Members Posted September 2, 2007 Yeah, since they make Corollas in a country that uses the Euro... That doesn't matter now, does it? They just calculate everything in such a way that there's the biggest mark-up for dealerships and middle men

Members Rippin' Robin Posted September 2, 2007 Members Posted September 2, 2007 DAYUM!!! I would hate to ask what an LS460 (Celsior) costs over there, if a Corolla will set you back 50 g's. They start at $150,000 up to $180,000 for the 'president' edition.

Members Rippin' Robin Posted September 2, 2007 Members Posted September 2, 2007 Roughly $250.000. That's even $100,000 more than over here. .... Get it here, I say
Members Mytola Posted September 2, 2007 Members Posted September 2, 2007 That's even $100,000 more than over here. .... Get it here, I say Half of the price is tax and VAT, so it's not really a lot cheaper to get it anywhere else. Anyone want to guess what, hm, for example a Ferrari 612 is over here?
Members Gaui Posted September 2, 2007 Author Members Posted September 2, 2007 They start at $150,000 up to $180,000 for the 'president' edition. Similar here, start at $160,000. Norway have always been our number one contender in the battle for what is the most expensive country in the world . I think they win this round
Members Perfessor Posted September 2, 2007 Members Posted September 2, 2007 That was a good deal. You can probably get another 100,000 on it.

Anyone want to guess what, hm, for example a Ferrari 612 is over here? $700,000.00 USD? My mom was just in Norway- spent three weeks there visiting an old college bud (yeah old-they're both now in their mid-70s) who married a Norwegian back in 1955 or something like that. Anyway, except for the dollar being worth {censored}, she said it was one of the most plesant long term trips she has ever taken. She really didn't spend a ton of money, as she was a guest of a friend for two weeks and then did Oslo on her own for a week. My mom's in great shape!
Members Mytola Posted September 2, 2007 Members Posted September 2, 2007 $700,000.00 USD? Something like that, yeah. Was you mom just in Oslo, or up north and to the west coast as well? Oslo ins't really a nice place, but the north and west coast really is.

When she wakes up I'll ask her again.

Spent most of our time at my uncles place in Holmenkollen, and Frogner Park eating fresh shrimp bought at the waterfront. We (the relatives) still have a summer house up in Flisa, near the Swedish border.

Oslo ins't really a nice place, but the north and west coast really is. Her friend lives in Hermansver. Showed me pics of that and a place called Floro as well. Whole lotta fjords, Mi Dei! She also went inland to Lillehammer where the winter Olympics were held, plus a bunch of other towns and scenic places. I thought she liked Oslo- she said it was OK. Copenhagen was the best of all the capitals. After Norway, she went to Stockkolm, Cop., then she got on a huge cruise ship and visited Helsinki (only OK), St. Petersburg (A+), Tallin, Gdansk/Gdynia and on and on. Lucky mommy!
