Members Funkee1 Posted September 2, 2007 Members Posted September 2, 2007 Now, I don't wanna get into a whole Emo Sucks! debate, or a "Pop music sucks argument either. What I wanna know is............. Are they boys who Like Girls, or are they Boys who Act like Girls????

Members Funkee1 Posted September 2, 2007 Author Members Posted September 2, 2007 Boys who play music to get girls ......but isn't that most of us???????
Members Captain Fathead Posted September 2, 2007 Members Posted September 2, 2007 ......but isn't that most of us??????? naw... not when the music sounds like that. I play because it relaxes me and I enjoy creating things. Girls are just a nice byproduct.
Members AntiStuff Posted September 2, 2007 Members Posted September 2, 2007 Boys who play music to get girls I ended up going to warped tour twice this year, and at both Cleveland and Buffalo, I saw at least three high school girls who had either made their own Boys like Girls shirts, or had written the band's name all over their arms. Punk rock doesn't mean anything to this generation. It's just like hair metal was 20 years ago.
Members Brother Mango Posted September 2, 2007 Members Posted September 2, 2007 ......but isn't that most of us??????? Mi Hermano, that's one comment that pokes me in a sensitive spot. I tried to start a band and, during our 3rd week, the guitarist started saying that pretty women are his inspiration for playing music. I should have stopped right there and addressed it instead of ignoring it. Sure enough, when there was real work to be done (D'Angelo's Spanish Joint), the guitarist bailed. And we were about 4 months into the project.

That's comic gold right there Back when I was punk (wow, its been a while ) Making your own shirts was often the only way to get a shirt with your fav band on it. Kids these days, no sense of history
Members Brother Mango Posted September 2, 2007 Members Posted September 2, 2007 No offense intended. I was trying to be funny! No offense was taken. I just had an unpleasant flashback.
Members i_wanna_les_paul Posted September 2, 2007 Members Posted September 2, 2007 I think they're really just boys who just like to wear girls' pants...
Members collinwho Posted September 2, 2007 Members Posted September 2, 2007 I don't really know much of them, so I did what I usually do in this situation and went straight to youtube. I think is ok. It has a good hook. I never understood the idea of them, or other bands not being punk enough. They aren't a punk band. They are a pop rock band. They do that well. "I don't like where R&B is going these days" would make as much sense.
Members collinwho Posted September 2, 2007 Members Posted September 2, 2007 also, I heard a completely unsubstantiated rumor that the lead guy is gay, which would make the name, at least, all the more interesting.
Members Robson780 Posted September 2, 2007 Members Posted September 2, 2007 Its both. Boys act like girls to get girls, because they like girls, and girls like boys that act like girls.

Members VinesBass Posted September 2, 2007 Members Posted September 2, 2007 Pop punk/rock. Sucks horrible music. Playing for just money and have no real inspiration. Horrible musicians. They all can just go die. The only reason the music is popular is because girls like them and tink they are hot.

I'd have a hard time saying that anyone I don't know in any way other than through a product that was released in their name had no inspiration. I guess I think that maybe people are sometimes inspired in ways that I don't understand. You must be really truly blessed with great insight in order to know this much about random dudes you've never met.

Careful, careful. You might have been better off saying: great talent, pissed away on pop music. But that would even get you into trouble.
Moderators Kindness Posted September 3, 2007 Moderators Posted September 3, 2007 The only reason I do anything related to music is for the women. You should see how many of them flock to me when they know I play in a band. Anyone that wants ridiculous propositions from easy women needs to be a lawyer, not a musician. Being able to withhold that information until a critical point in time gives you a great perspective on who is pursuing you out of shallowness and who is not.
Members ec437 Posted September 3, 2007 Members Posted September 3, 2007 Now, I don't wanna get into a whole Emo Sucks! debate I was under the impression that for an issue to be a debate, there has to be a dissenting voice to said issue. And, last time I checked, it was pretty much unanimous that emo music sucks, so I don't think it is possible for us to get into an "emo sucks" debate!

And, last time I checked, it was pretty much unanimous that emo music sucks, so I don't think it is possible for us to get into an "emo sucks" debate! I'm going to just repeat something I've said before. Emo has become so dilluted (by people who decided that 'emo' is a bad thing and therefore decided to label everything they dislike as 'emo'), that there really isn't such a thing anymore. So therefore since emo doesn't exist, it also doesn't suck.
Members VinesBass Posted September 3, 2007 Members Posted September 3, 2007 Music is about MUSICianship. Not all about lyrics. You now stuff like guitar solos, complex riffs and chords. Not just power chords.
Moderators Kindness Posted September 3, 2007 Moderators Posted September 3, 2007 I'm sorry, I thought it was about self expression. I guess it's time to start working on complex riffs.
