Members Fiery Furnace Posted September 3, 2007 Members Posted September 3, 2007 I couldn't find any info on what those might be, bass is highly customized so maybe they were added? Maybe controlling a bass cut? But then why two?
Members no-logic Posted September 3, 2007 Members Posted September 3, 2007 I couldn't find any info on what those might be, bass is highly customized so maybe they were added? Maybe controlling a bass cut? But then why two? They are definitely added. Not standard Ric issue.
Members Onkel Bob Posted September 3, 2007 Members Posted September 3, 2007 They were added. You'll have to ask whoever did it or take off the pick guard and take some pics of what you find in there and someone could probably help you out based on those pics.
Members Fiery Furnace Posted September 3, 2007 Author Members Posted September 3, 2007 Thanks guys. I don't have my hands on it yet but I'm good with electronics, so it should be pretty easy to figure out what they do and change it if need be. On another note, is it true that modern roundwound strings will hurt a 4001? Or was that just in the old days? Would regular medium gauge Ernie Balls be ok?
Members Thumper Posted September 3, 2007 Members Posted September 3, 2007 I'm guessing the switches are coil taps. You can string a 4001 with round wound strings without hurting the bass.
Members Fiery Furnace Posted September 3, 2007 Author Members Posted September 3, 2007 Thanks Thumper. Sounds cool.
Members Fiery Furnace Posted September 3, 2007 Author Members Posted September 3, 2007 Oh sweet, I won the Ebay auction. I didn't want to say anything before Dude, I'm getting a Rick!!!! That needs a lot of work
Members bholder Posted September 3, 2007 Members Posted September 3, 2007 I've seen that one before, was up on ebay a few months ago - pretty damned mangled, if you ask me, probably doesn't sound quite like a Ric anymore with the different electronics - but probably sounds damn good anyway. I'd love to try it. Aesthetically, it's wrecked, hope you didn't pay top dollar for it.
Members rummy Posted September 3, 2007 Members Posted September 3, 2007 Is that an X2N in the bridge?
Members Undead Sycip Posted September 3, 2007 Members Posted September 3, 2007 Jesus {censored}ing Christ, and someone thought I butchered my Ric?
Members Fiery Furnace Posted September 3, 2007 Author Members Posted September 3, 2007 Yeah... I payed a good price for it. About half of what the other 4001's on the Bay cost. I'm good with electronics so I look at it as a restoration project, should be a lot of fun! If anyone has a handle on any used pickups avaliable, let me know!
Members RIC N BACKER Posted September 3, 2007 Members Posted September 3, 2007 Jesus {censored}ing Christ, and someone thought I butchered my Ric? I was just {censored}ing with you a bit. that one is a mess
