Members willsellout Posted September 4, 2007 Members Posted September 4, 2007 For once in my life I didn't have to wait all damn day to get a bass! The Streamer stage II arrived this morning at about 8. I only got about 10 minutes of time on it so far because I was roped into watching the kid while the wife is over with her girlfriends house drinking mimosa's:mad:.Initial impressions:First thing that hit me was how well made it was; very very solid instrument. Second thing was how comfortable it was to play on a strap, it hung perfectly and the contoured back is really nice. The neck, of course, is a baseball bat but it seems a bit shallower than other wick's I've played and overall It's quite comfortable to play. All the knobs turn super smooth, the tuners as well..the electronics are dead quiet on it and the sound..well the sound is undoubtedly Warwick. It's got a tight string spacing of 17mm which is absolutely wonderful for me. Slapping doesn't seem overly difficult and actually seems a bit easier for me than with a 19mm spacing (like on my Ibanez). The B string, although not as taught as the Ibanez (35") it is absolutely crystal clear.I'm not making any promises but this bass feels like it could be around for a while:D.I'll get some pics when my daughter wakes up as right now it's in her room. Personally I think I got it at a steal at 1600.00 shipped because it is absolutely mint. I'm not sure when it was made but there isn't a mark on it, which is saying something considering it's just wood...no protection.Anyway, for all the Warwick haters (AKA BOALG) this bass wouldn't change your mind, but for those of us who appreciate the uniqueness of a Warwick, you would definitely love this bass.

Members willsellout Posted September 4, 2007 Author Members Posted September 4, 2007 I don't see any pic's. Yeah well my USB cable decided to take a {censored} and now I can't get them on the computer. I have a card reader in my printer but it's taking about 5 minutes to download one god damned picture.... Members willsellout Posted September 4, 2007 Author Members Posted September 4, 2007 Nice looker....! Do they all weigh like 30# or is it just the one I played...? this ones not bad especially compared to the Ibanez. I'd say it's around 9 lbs or so. Dan
Members willsellout Posted September 5, 2007 Author Members Posted September 5, 2007 Well after a change of strings and a setup I have this bad boy playing like a million bucks. There is a high fret on the B string at around the 5th fret which is pissing me off but I got it pretty much buzz free. I have to say this damn bass is about as adjustable as it comes. you have the Just a Nut II which raises and lowers the nut, as well as the fully adjustable bridge where you can adjust string height, spacing, intonation, and you can also raise and lower the entire bridge. I have to say out of all the Warwicks I have spent any amount of time with this one is way more versatile. It has the basslines pre and PU config which is nice. Controls are your standard Bass, Mid, pickup pan/treble stacked, and volume which, if you pull up on it, activates the slap EQ contour which boosts the bass and treble while limiting the mids. This bass doesn't necessarily have the definitive "Warwick" tone but it's definitely there...but it's a lot warmer than say a thumb or Jazzman. Also after the change of strings the B string is really taught and clear as a bell. I'm really a fan of this bass..it feels like the Spector did only much more comfortable with the 34" scale. The neck is nice and not hard to play at all. I can't say how much I dig the contoured back too...it's just soo nice! One thing you have to give credit to them for is how adjustable and how easy they make it for you to change batteries, make truss rod adjustments etc.. Everything is snap off and super easy..the whole bass is really user friendly. It was definitely worth the cash I paid...not sure if it's worth the 4K price tag but it's a damn nice bass that rivals anything out there. Dan
Moderators Kindness Posted September 5, 2007 Moderators Posted September 5, 2007 Supercool. So are your five string needs fulfilled? Hanewinkel is in my head. A 7 string Gripen...

For now my 5 strings are fulfilled. As soon as I took this bass out I had an immediate affection for it..similar to what I felt with my SB2 which I love to death. That doesn't happen all that often either. As far as Pete's work...you can't go wrong there..the man is a genius and I have never played a bass with a better setup. The action was lower than I thought possible. He's super nice and works with you a ton..he also has a tendency to upgrade stuff as the project progresses. You might want to catch him now though because his prices are about to go up. Dan

I guess I should just call him.
Members willsellout Posted September 5, 2007 Author Members Posted September 5, 2007 Any idea what his prices and build time are at the moment or when he is raising prices? I guess I should just call him. Build time is about 14 weeks and he should be raising his prices within the next couple months. I would call and ask and maybe you can get locked in with his current prices. He's making his own pickups now too and he says they sound better than anything out there..and for Pete to say something like that makes me believe it. He was originally using Barts for a long time but got sick of waiting fir PU's so he started making his own. I want him to make another 5 string when I have the cash and I'm going to have his PU's in it. Dan

That's what I liked about this bass...the wood isn't fancy and it's pretty plain looking but it's like a Lamboghini in a Toyota's body:D. Dan
Moderators Kindness Posted September 5, 2007 Moderators Posted September 5, 2007 Cool. It's great when you can pick up an instrument and just instantly bond with it. I'm glad you found another that'll make you smile.
Members 82Daion Posted September 5, 2007 Members Posted September 5, 2007 Congrats! The SSII I played in Chicago had a very unique voice; very dry and articulate, without a lot of excess low end. Can't say it was my thing, but it sure wouldn't get lost in a mix. Play it in good health!

Seems no one wants to bottleneck their production waiting for the Bartolinis. Not to be callus, but they are about to kick it soon anyway and I'm not sure anyone is in position to take over their work. I wouldn't want to be left in the lurch when that happens.
Members HumptyThumpty Posted September 5, 2007 Members Posted September 5, 2007 Sweet bass! I like it. Contrats.

Yeah he quoted me 18 on mine because I was going to have his PU's put in with a couple extra's. I would say 14-18 weeks from order to delivery. If you needed it fast I'm sure he could get it to you in 14 though. Dan
